4.0 out of 5 stars Good small case, one design flaw
I have a large Tamrac backpack that fits all my stuff (DLSR body, large telephoto, medium telephoto zoom, flash, small 50mm prime, etc.) and I bought this on impulse at a camera shop to put the body and medium telephoto into when that's all I'm taking with me.

3.0 out of 5 stars No protection on cover
The cover opening does not provide any protection. It does not have cushion to protect the camera which is on top. If you have digital SLR which you want to protect the LCD, this bag is not good.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good small case, one design flaw, June 29, 2007
This review is from: Tamrac 5533 Adventure Messenger 3 Camera Bag (Gray/Black) (Electronics)
I have a large Tamrac backpack that fits all my stuff (DLSR body, large telephoto, medium telephoto zoom, flash, small 50mm prime, etc.) and I bought this on impulse at a camera shop to put the body and medium telephoto into when that's all I'm taking with me.

With the body/lens in there, the bag is pretty much full. That's actually fine with me. I have a Canon 30D and the lens is the L-series 24-105, so that's pretty big stuff. I might be able to squeeze a flash in there, but it would be tight, and that's with most of the padding removed.

The design flaw is the zipper on the back of the bag. If you shoulder carry the bag, as it seems to be designed to do, the back of the bag rubs on your body, at about the belt line, and that's right where the zipper is--so as the bag sways, it slowly opens the zipper. I've thought of some velcro or another way to fix it, but haven't gotten to it yet. Otherwise, it's a good bag.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent ! ! even for 2!, January 20, 2009
This review is from: Tamrac 5533 Adventure Messenger 3 Camera Bag (Gray/Black) (Electronics)
This bag was intended for a full size SLR and acc's and for that I'm sure it's great. I inspected it personally because I needed a bag for my Sony Video Cam AND my Kodak Dig. cam. By shifting the velcro attached partitions the bag easily holds both cams and all my acc's. This bag is excellent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best bag for my needs!, November 25, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Tamrac 5533 Adventure Messenger 3 Camera Bag (Gray/Black) (Electronics)
This bag is perfect for my needs. It's not too small, but not too big for trips. It's gone on extended vacations and local day trips with me several times now. My Sony alpha fits perfectly right in the top (with lens attached), allowing quick access. It fits all the necessities well, and keeps them organized and safe. The side pocket is the perfect size for my Palm Treo cell phone. The velco dividers inside are re-arrangeable as needed. I did a lot of research in stores and online researching bags to fit my needs. This one met them all. It's not terribly obvious that it's a camera bag due to the shap. Very comfortable to carry.

I received the Tamrac camera bag within a week of ordering it, and I was very happy with the way Tamrac explained via drawings exactly what it would hold. I wanted the bag to travel with, so I wanted protection for my camera and lenses, but not excessive bulk. The Tamrac bag was perfect for this purpose, not too big, not too small, well built, and had lots of pads without being huge. I would definitely recommend this manufacturer, and you can believe what they say when they talk about exactly what each bag can hold.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great small case, May 29, 2007
This review is from: Tamrac 5533 Adventure Messenger 3 Camera Bag (Gray/Black) (Electronics)
This is an excellent case to grab when traveling. I carry my extra lens, flash, mini tripod, and filters in it. The removable and adjustable dividers make this a very flexible case. The handle makes this a very easy to grab when on the go and the strap is handy. I have a separate Tamrac case for my camera, extra batteries, and memory.

3.0 out of 5 stars Just okay...., August 12, 2007
Bought this bag for my SONY DSLR ALPHA 100, the cover isn't padded at all, and the bag isn't as big as I thought it was...

It will work for a while with my camera, 18-70, and 75-300 lens, but anything more I'll need something bigger.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good bag, February 2, 2011

I had tried a different bag to hold my camera and separate flash, and it wasn't big enough. This holds them both snugly and firmly- very secure. Convenient pockets- good quality so far. I've only had the bag a couple of weeks- hopefully it will continue to hold up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Bag for Protection, September 28, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have a D5000 with a stock lens + a prime lens that I carry in this bag. The bag has been through tough conditions - sudden heavy downpour, high humidity/dew, dusty/sandy environment and I have to say the protection it offers is really great. This bag carries my camera on all my hiking trips and it has offered excellent protection against the elements. I have had this bag for more that a year and am extremely pleased with it. Even though the outside of the bag gets really wet during rain/dew but the inside stays completely dry. I know I should be more careful with my camera, but weather is a thing hard to predict when you are travelling and that is the reason I got this bag.

The velcro + buckle make for easy access when needed and the numerous pockets offer ample space to carry accessories.

The red and black combo makes it not look ugly either.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite DSLR Bag, July 14, 2008

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
What I like most is that it does not look like a camera bag, it looks like a messenger bag, I love to carry it anywhere with my Nikon D40X with my Sigma 18-200 OS, but if you prefer to carry more camera accessories then get the Tamrac next size bigger. Tamrac a quality product. Go for it.
