Great design, suitable for air travel and most overhead storage. The rolling wheels are well balanced and roll smooth. The 'laptop' area is not very well padded and rather large - good for just bringing the laptop from point a to point b, though I wouldn't check the bag or store for long term with the laptop in there. Material seems to be durable, the extendable handle is sturdy and collapses smooth. Would definitely recommend.
Photo of my gear in the bag: [...]
After going through a few bags over the years, this is probably my most favorite. Though not a replacement for a backpack if you plan to hike - this is definitely great for keeping in your car, moving from job to job, traveling, and general storage.
I have been using this Tamrac bag for 2 years. This has held up very well for me so far and has performed as expected. I wish there was a fastener for a tripod on the bag, but I can make do without it. The flexibility of the layout has been the most useful feature so far. This offers solid protection for my expensive gear!
As a world traveler that specializes in underwater photography, weight and protection always have utmost importance when selecting luggage cases. In the "old days" a waterproof, impact resistance hard case was the best choice for equipment. But they were large and especially heavy. In these days of ridiculous baggage fees, this carry-on is a great value when traveling. I use it exclusively for photo equipment and it comes with all types of foam dividers to be able to customize each trip to get the most equipment in the bag and keep it protected. Handle is heavy duty and functions well. The extra front pocket is great for paperwork and books to read en route. I have found that the balance between size and protection has been attained. I heartily endorse this item for any photographer on the move through airports.
