This is not a well thought out strap. You get two straps, one about 80" long, and the other about 30". You are supposed to double the long strap over your neck and attach it to the belt loop and upper straps. The sort strap is supposed to go around your chest, but at 30" it won't fit a lot of people.

The doubled over strap over your neck is very uncomfortable, and you would be better off just using the shoulder strap that comes with the pack in the first place, and it likely at least has a cushioned area for your neck.

I use the chest harness in conjunction with the Tamrac 5630 Pro Digital Zoom 10 Case. This system allows me to access my Nikon D700 and related gear without taking my backpack off while backpacking. If I had to take my backpack off every time I saw a photo op, I would take far fewer shots.

This system allows me to take some of the bulk and weight from my backpack to the front of my body, helping me balance a little better and carry a little more. I have fallen with the case an harness attached to me and didn't damage my camera.

It is tricky to get the harness on, as there are loops to put the arms and head through and sometimes it gets tangled. I dislike that the straps have no padding, so a day of hiking can really wear away at the shoulders. I am working on finding straps that won't interfere with my backpack straps but offer at least some protection.
