Product Description

FeaturesThis lens establishes a new benchmark as a standard lens, extending from a wide 28mm all the way to 105mm telephoto, all with a fast constant 2.8 maximum aperture. The use of four large diameter aspherical elements and three LD glass elements reduces various aberrations while minimizing the fall-off of light at the corners. Tamron's Integrated-Focusing Cam system, Internal Focusing system and Triple-Cam zoom system all combine to permit a body that at the 28mm zoom position is very compact, with excellent optical performance. Also, a new Anti-Slip-Mode mechanism is incorporated for the first time. Specifications Lens Construction (Groups/Elements) 12-15 Angle of View: 75?-24? 3.0 out of 5 stars Decent Lenes, November 6, 2011
This review is from: Tamron SP Autofocus 28-105mm f/2.8 LD Aspherical (IF) Lens for Nikon DSLR Cameras (Electronics)
I purchased this lens used from a camera retail store. Right out of the box, lens works great with my Nikon D90 body for the kind of hobby shooting I do. I would have to say it's a bit heavy compared to other lens in the same zoom range on the market today. It has a pretty fast 2:8 lens for low light shooting. I highly recommend using a tripod when shooting shutter speeds of less than 30 sec. Macro works fine, and the lens is somewhat decent for shooting portraits. I don't shoot commercially so I'm in no position talk about softness or sharpness on this lens. I'm happy for the results this lens has to offer for the prices I paid. If you don't mind the weight that this lens carries; this lens would be a good choice to add to your collections.

Now if anyone is interested in Tamron Lenses, in general?
I can't review this lens,,,, But the "SP" lenses are Tamrons better lenses and this lens is a F2.8 so I assume that this is a pretty bitching lens. I owned a Tamron 70-210 "SP" Manual Focus lens on my Canon AE1 Program and later on a Canon F-1 and it worked great and was the only lens I needed in most all circumstances! I loved that internal continuous focus macro lens. You could macro and use the zoom without changing the focus. This lens had nearly no flair and made a great general all purpose lens. I used it mostly always with available light however it shot nice portaits with fill flash as well. If you're using it for photo journalism it's tough and fast handling. This was my all around carry everywhere lens.
