About the Author

After Katherine Applegate graduated from college, she spent time waiting tables, typing (badly), watering plants, wandering randomly from one place to the next with her boyfriend, and just generally wasting her time. When she grew sufficiently tired of performing brain-dead minimum-wage work, she decided it was time to become a famous writer. Anyway, a writer. Writing proved to be an ideal career choice, as it involved neither physical exertion nor uncomfortable clothing, and required no social skills.

Ms. Applegate has written more than one hundred books under her own name and a variety of pseudonyms. She has no children, is active in no organizations, and has never been invited to address a joint session of Congress. She does, however, have an evil, foot-biting cat named Dick, and she still enjoys wandering randomly from one place to the next with her boyfriend.

More About the Author

Katherine Applegate's many books include the Roscoe Riley Rules chapter book series, the picture book The Buffalo Storm, and the award-winning novel Home of the Brave. With her husband, Michael Grant, she wrote the hugely popular series Animorphs, which has sold more than 35 million copies worldwide.

Katherine was inspired to write The One and Only Ivan after reading about the true story of a captive gorilla known as Ivan, the Shopping Mall Gorilla. The real Ivan lived alone in a tiny cage for twenty-seven years at a shopping mall before being moved to Zoo Atlanta after a public outcry. He is now a beloved celebrity at the zoo, which houses the nation's largest collection of western lowland gorillas. Ivan is well known for his paintings, which he "signs" with a thumb-print.

Katherine lives in California with her husband and two children.

Summer's back for a second summer vacation in the Florida Keys.

She's just graduated from high school and she's back to chill with Diana, her cousin, and Marquez, her best friend. Unlike last summer, Seth won't be there. Instead, her new fiancé will be on the West Coast for an internship.

When an old fling shows up, Summer must figure out her heart and where her loyalty lies before things spin out of control. I read Beach Blondes and liked the characters a lot. I knew I had to read Tan Lines after that. I was hooked! This was far better than Beach Blondes was! There's was more drama and betrayal which makes is far more fun to read =) . I'm a little sad that there isnt more. There's a big unanswered thing in the end and we never do get to see it resolved. I dont know if Katherine Applegate is ever going to continue the story with these characters. I sure hope she does!

I'm one of those girls who loves reading these summer type books year round. this book is so good! its one of those books you can't put down. summer and all her friends have changed so much and go through so much together. this is the book for people who like summer romance drama's. totally get this book it is amazing.
