If you live in one of those places that gets all four seasons with A LOT of winter and don't want to risk skin damage from tanning beds, this is your savior! I'm from Minnesota. I love it here! But after the first snow fall comes, and dumps everywhere, laying out in the sun in a bikini is out of question. With that comes nice pasty white skin. Pale is healthy, sure, but when it looks like you're in the beginning stages of becoming a grey-purple zombie, might want a pick-me-up. Especially if you have a date, wedding, or like for me, winter formal and prom.
I've had plenty of experience with self tanners.. I've looked like a carrot one too many times and have stayed away from them. Cancer beds, excuse me, tanning beds, were out of question. Prom was two weeks away and I needed a quick solution from having white skin matching my just as white dress. Then two of my friends recommended these tan towels. I was a little hesitant because of my experience, but they were evidence of the towels solid work, they all looked great and had a natural tan. I would of never guessed. I was desperate anyways, cuz when winter comes I get really X5 pale.
So I rushed down to a nearby salon and picked a package up. Not too pricey and there were enough towelettes to cover all the body quickly. Took two wipes for me and I'm 5'9, in shape. The scent isn't horrible. Some people are indifferent, some don't like it, but I personally like the citrus smell. Don't take a shower right after application. I would usually wait 30-45 minutes untell I'd put grungy clothes on to avoid any undry tan stuff to get on my clothes. I'd wait at least 4-7 hours to take a shower, just to make sure I'd get best results. That might just be me and probably unnecessary.
Results showed up right away. By morning I had a nice glow. Beware, To NOT do two coats in one night. I made the mistake. I'm a bit impatient. It didn't look bad, just too tan for me, too drastic of a change in a short period. The next day friends kept mentioning how tan I looked (but it looked good). I did two towelettes once every two days. You can just do two to three times a week, depending how fast and how dark you need until an event.
Prom came, and I looked gooooooooood. No more lifeless pale, and I looked natural and healthy in my white prom dress. Yes! When I took the dress off after the dance, there was light remnants of orange on the inside, on the parts that were tightest on the dress. But not very much. I was a bit surprised cuz at the dances it does get very hot because of some many people and the body heat and minor sweating because of the dancing and good time. I even put a towelette on the morning of. I was surprised that more didn't come off.
One warning, especially to those athletes. Lots of sweating and tight equipment rubbing on skin leaves tan "bald" spots. I had a volleyball tournament the next morning(it was rough getting up at 5 am after the late night), right after prom. By the end of the 12 hour tournament when I took off my ankle braces, there was a tan "bald spot" in the EXACT shape my ankle braces were! Happened to my friend too who used the stuff and was on my same team. It was ridiculous but made a good laugh. Part of the tan stuff came off on my kneepads and at my feet, but everywhere else was fine. Soccer players will have the same problem with their shin guards. Just beware.
I highly recommend this product to all those northern-winter-pale sufferers! I used it for my Sweetheart dance just in January and have an extra package for my last prom. A great solution to potential skin cancer, ladies.
