This auger is rugged, & well constructed. It's commercial grade. Thus far I've only bored holes in clay soil. I've not encountered many rocks nor roots, and so I don't know how well it'll bore through roots. I made an adapter so that I can use it with a powerful 1/2 inch drill, and it works well.
