Having used low-end consumer gas blowers for years, I finally gave up and bought the Tanaka 43cc Backpack Blower.

It's amazing the difference between what I've had and this unit. It starts on the first pull even if the pull is half-hearted. The air force is perfect for a normal sized yard without ripping up the grass. The control of arm is just superb as you move about; it feels very natural.

It does get a bit heavy on your back after a while and it isn't a gas/oil sipper.

With a three year consumer warranty and being nearly fully assembled out of box, you can't go wrong. Trust me, you will love using this thing and wonder why you didn't buy a blower of the caliber of this unit sooner. The quality of this Japanese-made blower is quite evident.

Also, as another review noted, the instruction manual is absolutely berserk and useless. You have to see it to believe it. I rate it by far the worst manual I've ever seen, but if you've had other 2-stroke tools, you could figure things out.

I couldn't be more pleased with this blower. It arrived in a timely fashion, was easy to assemble (and I am NOT mechanically inclined), and best of all it started on the first pull of the cord. I use it weekly, and just wish I had not wasted my time with a hand held blower for so many years.

very ez to use and assemble from the box ( no tools needed ) the direction booklet was (is) useless unable to read 75% of text and diagrams are barely seen---seems booklet is a copy from a copy machine out of toner -- called company = so far no response. But, other than that am very pleased with power and quality dr.k maine

I took it out of the box, put it together, filled it with gas and completely cleaned the yard in half the time than it took with the old hand held blower. It's a little heavier than I anticipated, but once it was on my back it made no difference.

After my 23 CC Echo of 7 years died I was in the market for something with some more power. Now I am not knocking my beloved Echo, It gave me 7 reliable years of HARD work. I Live on a wooded lot and she helpped me keep the yard in check...as best as her little 23 cc heart could give. My Echo was definately undersized for what I needed it for, but I was a new home owner and at the time and ECHO was all I knew as a commercial grade back pack...besides it is the best Home Depot had to offer. :) Now 7 years later and a bit more educated and a larger selection of backpacks avaialable I was out to get the best for what I can afford..(approx 300-350) but would have went a little higher if I found something worth it....I just about narrowed it down to the Husky 150BT(rebadged RedMax). After doing ALOT of on-line research, this was the best for the Money and I could have even bought it @ my Local Lowes!.....Then I came across TANAKA in one of my last minute internet searches and I am glad I did...You can find them online anywhere for low $400's to mid $500's( If you are the type the must buy form local dealer, expect to pay close to $600),but if not and you look a liitle harder online you can find them even cheaper..I got mine for the same price as the Husky 150BT with FREE Ship... The Blower is all around TOP SHELF! right down to the packaging..Blower comes totally encased in packing foam..I actually had to break it out of a shell of packing material...the housing,pipes, shoulder straps, airfilter etc. are visibly of higher quality then any other blower I saw in its class....and I was blown away by its performance(Pun intended :) The numbers even show it with 500 CFM @ 200 MPH at the PIPE! Thats more than the Husky , Echo, Stihl and more in its class...and the Tanaka is equipped with a smaller engine! The unit is light and well balanced. Vibration and noise level at full throttle was even much better than my small echo....as far as the durabilty Time will tell, but I can assure you it is not built to be a cheap home owners special and from what I hear the motors are bullet proof,,,,,I also think Tanaka wouldnt be so quick to arm it with a 7 year non-commercial warranty if werent made to last. I believe it has a 3 yr commercial and 1 yr rental warranty.....So if you are reading this review for help in making a decision, go ahead and do it....you wont be sorry with the Tanaka! Honestly!......oh yeah, one more thing the gas tank is huge.

I purchased product from Tanaka after Christmas. I was impressed at first but after shutting off and restarting. The trimmer head wouldn't spin. I would have to hit it on the ground several times to get the shaft to go back into the trimmer head. Called Tanaka and they wanted me to take it apart and fix. The closest authorized repair facility is a hour away. I called them and they said it might not be covered under warranty since it was bought off Amazon. It has been 6 weeks and still no trimmer. By the way it is a heavy trimmer!.
