I used this set to make a series of quality belts, which fit me perfectly, after purchasing the buckles and reusing some leather straps. The rivets are easy to set and the package includes small, medium (which worked for me) and large rivets in both silver and bronze. These are rapid rivets, so only one side (the cap side) is presentable. The anvil and setter they provided did their job. Employ the flat side of the anvil and the concave side of the setter against the rivet head. I used a regular hammer, a few solid wackes giving a good seat, instead of the wood mallet the instructions recommended. Moreover, beforehand, I experimented with the rivet sizes on some scraps I hole-punched to see which worked best. If you are doing belt alteration or repair, these rivets give a professional finish. If you want visual instructions (if the video is still available) checkout Youtube by typing in the key words "Setting a Rivet" and watching MainLineIndustries' video to see how these particular rivets function (though the ones displayed are double caped).

I needed a small riveter and rivets for a torn nylon strap, and they wanted $34.00 for a replacement strap. I bought the strap webbing for $7.00, and this neat little riveter and rivet set. Did the same job while sticking $20 back in my wallet. Hope you find this item as 'riveting' as I did.

Bought this for some leather beer coozies I made and to make some repairs to my sons cheap Halloween costume. It works, rivets held up pretty good with him running around at Halloween parties and trick-or-treating. Thing the instructions said to have the anvil with the flat side up, not sure if that is a mistake on their part, works better to have concave part facing up so the rivets curl inward a bit, and it moves less while striking it.

It set the grommets effortlessly. Word of caution... it was my first time using one of these, so be careful about the depth of setting the grommet. if you weren't careful, you could push the grommet clear through the leather.

I bought these fo fill some holes in a fiberglas equipment carrying case -- and hoped they would be a bit tougher/more durable. They fill the bill, but I still would have liked something a bit more substantiual.

One word of advice to the seller, however -- there are "too many variedties" of rivets in the pack, and not enough of each variety to complete any but the smallest of jobs. I think it would be best to either increase the number of each type (and the price if necessary) or reduce the variety of types and include more of each type. Difficult to do any job with just a handful of identical pieces -- not too attractive to "mix and match" in a single project.

I had a leather bag that lost a rivet - this kit came with everything I needed to fix it. There are also a few different sizes, so I didn't have to know exactly what size was needed before buying.

Some might even say that they are....riveting....I, on the other hand, find them to be quite sufficient. I will likely purchase more.

I tried and tried to connect two pieces of belt leather with these, and after numerous attempts, never could get the two halves to join properly.

Each time the top or bottom would slide sideways and I'd end up with a bent blob of brass that separate easily by hand.

The directions say place the bottom half on the flat side of the anvil. This seems counterintuitive. If the concave side is not to be used, why go through the additional expense of machining the concave side? I tried reversing the anvil contrary to the directions but got the same result.

I consider myself well above average as a handyman, but I could not master these little rivets.
