Tandy's Money Machine would have made a very good Series of Magazine articles and would have been better if written for the electronic media. Many of the same topics are visited and revisited several times. The book is more of a collection of interviews with Radio Shack and Tandy Employees Past and present caught sitting around a table remembering the good old Days when Charles Tandy was still alive. (And somewhat wishing that he would stop rolling over in his grave seeing what has become of his dream). The information is captivating: If you are a long term Tandy employee and wish you were sitting at that table too. For those that got into the company just a little late to know just how it was, I recommend this book so that you can understand better how Charles Tandy Intended his business to be run. You will learn a philosophy which will help you make sense of how things are done at Radio Shack and other Growing businesses. BUT, the book needs rewritten in a form either more chronological in nature, or electronicly in such a way where the reader can JUMP around to titles of interest to him rather than just jumping around from subject to subject as did Irvin Farman. By the way. Don't Bother looking for Used copies of this book. The Average Radio Shack STILL Has 14 NEW copies on their shelves where they have sat since they arrived six years ago. Marked down to $1.99 from $19.99 Look for the Sequal: Tandy is Radio Shack, Radio Shack is Tandy - How Leonard Roberts Saved Radio Shack/Tandy from Diversifing itself into Oblivion. Now that the company is back on the right track, You will have to look for this title here at Amazon, because it won't occupy any valuable shelf space at Radio Shack.

Written in a style making this book impossible to stop reading, Irvin Farmer has captured the essence, the charisma, and the style of Charles Tandy, who took a dream that others thought impossible, and turned that dream into a worldwide organization mightly to behold.

Charlie Tandy may have had his good points, but he worked people to death, over drank and died at 60. He had a great vision and let no one or anything stand in his way. Full of cuss words and swearing. You could read about a lot of other business leaders in a lot better book.
