5.0 out of 5 stars Great Sub For It's Size, November 13, 2010
This review is from: Tang Band W5-1138SM 5-1/4 Neodymium Subwoofer (Electronics)
As with most of TB's small subs & drivers, they are not meant for big power supplies! Use them in the right way and they are pretty darn nice! This 5.25 sub is no exception! Used these subs in a 2-way build with TB's 4" Bambo Driver for HT purposes! The results were astounding! Two seperate cabs designed and incorporated into a single cab and both chambers ported with a very simple crossover(coil on the low pass side at 3oo Hz)! Muscially they pretty much perform along the lines of a 6.5" 2 way! Bass is great, but not over bearing with the full range driver really delivering the mids and great high's. On the HT side, these subs will get down low when needed, very impressive! So...yes you can be build a 2.0 HT system that will rock and impress your friends! The nice thing about this small system, it can be run on an 8 ohm receiver with an ample power supply as well as 4 ohm....

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun toy when priced at $19, June 30, 2010
This review is from: Tang Band W5-1138SM 5-1/4 Neodymium Subwoofer (Electronics)
These little guys can be fun, pump out bass from a small package, BUT they are currently over priced. I got them at $19 and that is a great price, but I would now choose a 8" dayton sub driver over this.

They have some weaknesses. Can't take too much power, Easily reaches it's Xmas and pukes out with any kind of load.

Good for a mazda miata, MR2, ect. Pass on it if you have the space to go bigger. Or, if they go back to a realistic price, get them to play with. Overall a decent micro sub, but in the price of a 8" sub driver, so go bigger if you can. Can be ported to 38hz -3db.
