Tang Ceramics-Changsha Kilns [Library Binding]

Timothy See-Yiu Lam (Author)

Available from these sellers.

Book Description

July 1990
An invaluable reference for any lover of Chinese art, culture or history. It is unique in that it deals almost exclusively with the pottery products from the famous Changsha family of kilns in Hunan province during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618-907). Besides paying tribute to the "lowly" civilian wares that so vitally supported the framework of a civilization, the book also includes information on basic pottery culture, historical background, poetry, calligraphy, and ornamentation and decoration of ceramic wares.

Editorial Reviews

Review

This volume is the result of much careful effort and enterprise on the part of the author. For the visual documentation alone the book is well worth having in the libraries of all those interested in Chinese ceramics. (South China Morning Post, Aug. 11, 1990)

I can immediately say, without any hesitation, that this is a handsome book ... The price of the book is reasonable for a work of such size and considerable individuality ... -- Arts of Asia, January-February, 1991
