I was expecting a little more from this story based on the reviews. I wasn't very drawn to any of the characters - I found the main character on the whiny side and a bit too self-destructive for my taste. The plot didn't really feel like it went very far. All that's opinion though, and I can understand how it might appeal to some. What really got me about this book was the editing. It really felt like it could've used a good read-through with a fine-toothed comb. Homonym issues (your/you're, our/are, etc), the occasional sentence that didn't read quite right, and, most irritating to me, many instances where it was pretty obvious the author actually meant an entirely different word. People don't enter a restaurant and "squander off" to a booth. You don't break a stare and "recant" back to your book. It's pretty easy to tell what the author was trying to say, but the frequent mistakes were jarring.

Overall, not a great book, not a bad book, but I wouldn't recommend it to people who are sticklers for a well-edited book.

The fun, flirty and energetic tone of "Tangerine Twist" by Suzie Carr make it a perfect book for vacation get-away time! But don't let that carefree style fool you - Suzie Carr is a talented author, crafting her work carefully and dealing with real-life issues with sensitivity, humor and compassion. And the whole time, she makes it look oh-so-easy and natural. That's why "Tangerine Twist" is such a joy to read - you might not think you'd be into a girl/girl love story, but Suzie takes you to the place that really makes romance tick...the heart. Nice job!

FINALLY a decent lesbian novel!

Suzie Carr tells a captivating story of one woman's journey -- a wild, twisted ride through love, loss, and gain. The story is punctuated by incredible descriptions that make you feel like you're right alongside Becca James as she gains it all and discovers that realizing her dreams is not at all what she had imagined.

The story is fun, addicting, and teaches a very valuable lesson. I couldn't put it down. I hope Suzie Carr is working on her next novel; I'm hungry for it!

Going with a full 5-stars on this one. I read this book quickly and really enjoyed it. It was refreshingly not written in the cookie cutter "romance wins in the end" style. Sometimes life isn't so easy, and this captures that. Suzie's writing style indulges the senses. Fun and satisfying read. I will certainly move on to more by this author.

I read this book on vacation and couldn't put it down. I am a Suzie Carr fan and feel so comfy with her writing and her character development. I am a musician and found the story accurate and related to the personal angst of being driven toward success and the pitfalls of (even minor) fame. Grab this one if you want some easy reading with characters you will love and also want to smack upside the head. Good job, great read!

Suzie Carr is an exceptional author who takes the reader on a journey of emotions in Tangerine Twist. She tells the story from Becca James' point of view, and as a reader, I felt as though I was seeing, hearing, smelling and tasting everything the main character was. It's a story of someone who, in order to have everything she's ever dreamed of, takes a diverging, twisting road to finally realize her dreams were right in front of her the whole time. Tangerine Twist is a lovely story about lessons, learning, growth, redemption and love.

I bought this book for myself for Christmas and carried it around for about a month…in my purse no doubt, before I was able to unwind from the hustle and bustle of the holidays and start reading. The story immediately entrapped me and I finished the book several hours later in a panic to find out what happens next. I loved the author's descriptive insights and the fact that pretty much any girl I know can relate in some way to the events in this book. I cannot wait for the sequel.
