I was expecting a little more from this story based on the reviews. I wasn't very drawn to any of the characters - I found the main character on the whiny side and a bit too self-destructive for my taste. The plot didn't really feel like it went very far. All that's opinion though, and I can understand how it might appeal to some. What really got me about this book was the editing. It really felt like it could've used a good read-through with a fine-toothed comb. Homonym issues (your/you're, our/are, etc), the occasional sentence that didn't read quite right, and, most irritating to me, many instances where it was pretty obvious the author actually meant an entirely different word. People don't enter a restaurant and "squander off" to a booth. You don't break a stare and "recant" back to your book. It's pretty easy to tell what the author was trying to say, but the frequent mistakes were jarring.
Overall, not a great book, not a bad book, but I wouldn't recommend it to people who are sticklers for a well-edited book.
