Damn good, but not great!, July 16, 2005
This review is from: Tangerine (Audio CD)
I searched ten long years for another taste of the totally AWESOME voice that is Janet Gardner, so when I finally found "Tangerine" I bought it immediately!
Her voice is just as outstanding as ever, but the absence of Jan & Share is apparent in the music from the opening chords. Roxy is her rock-steady self, but Gina Stile is a great rhythm but only a good lead. The songs, as a whole, are good, but most could have been great with an "American Dream" style solo or a "Not A Minute Too Soon" thundering bass line. The studio guy they used on bass PALES in comparison!
If you like the crap that passes for music on the radio (Mave Datthews, Jora Nones, Dreen Gay, et al) these days, don't buy this CD - shoot yourself & put the rest of us out of your misery! If, however, you like KICK-ASS rock & roll sung by a great voice like Doro Pesch, Sandi Saraya or Ann Wilson - BUY ANY VIXEN CD IMMEDIATELY! This isn't the best one, but they're ALL better than today's FM fodder!

This album is so good I can't stop listening to it!, November 30, 1999
This review is from: Tangerine (Audio CD)
Forget 80's Vixen. This ain't no pop album. This album rocks like you never thought Vixen could. The only way to explain it is Pat Benatar meets L7. Strange? Well after the first few seconds of 'Page', you'll find yourself saying "This is Vixen?" They are no longer female Poisen clones. This album rocks harder than their last two by far. It took ten years, but wow I'd wait another ten to hear something this good again.

Their BEST album!, August 12, 1999

With each Vixen album you can hear a growth lyrically and musically. This album definitly shows a older, mature Vixen! The lyrics are strong and amazing and the music is excellent. I wish they stayed together and put out another album cause it's like they just get better with every album (and i absolutley LOVE their first album!)
