5.0 out of 5 stars Best Brush Ever, Truly No More Tears.
Read other reviews and thought I would try it after another tear filled morning trying to brush my daughter's hair. I picked one up at my local Sally's Beauty supplies (I just couldn't wait for it to ship from Amazon) and brought it home for her to try. I started brushing her hair and she said, "Wow, wow, it really doesn't hurt." She took it from me and started brushing...

2.0 out of 5 stars The Tangle Teezer: Crouching Detangler, Hidden Hair Shredder
I jumped on the bandwagon and bought the Tangle Teezer after seeing other natural haired women rave about it. I have type 4a/b hair and thought I would give it a go.

Starting out, it was a curly girl's dream. The Tangle Teezer did what it said. Since my hair is starting to gain some length, I don't look forward to detangling days. It can take almost 2 hours...

I picked one up at my local Sally's Beauty supplies (I just couldn't wait for it to ship from Amazon) and brought it home for her to try. I started brushing her hair and she said, "Wow, wow, it really doesn't hurt." She took it from me and started brushing her own hair and hasn't stopped yet. Needless to say, I when out the next day and bought a couple more, a spare for her and one for a friend of ours. Two days later, she is brushing her hair on her own without me having to ask, no tears and no fights, just beautiful hair. I love it and there is peace in our house again, well okay at least there is no more fighting over brushing tangled hair. Now if I could only find something that will inspire her to do her homework...

2.0 out of 5 stars The Tangle Teezer: Crouching Detangler, Hidden Hair Shredder, May 1, 2011
I jumped on the bandwagon and bought the Tangle Teezer after seeing other natural haired women rave about it. I have type 4a/b hair and thought I would give it a go.

Starting out, it was a curly girl's dream. The Tangle Teezer did what it said. Since my hair is starting to gain some length, I don't look forward to detangling days. It can take almost 2 hours to detangle my hair. The Tangle Teezer cut this time down to 15 minutes. First, I wet my hair, added conditioner and waited for the slip. I took the tangle teezer and glided it through my hair, starting from the bottom up and working my way up to the root. My hair felt thoroughly detangled, almost as if I had a blowout. It also clumped my curls together. I was thrilled....

....that is, until six weeks later. I had been wearing my hair in protective styles for three months, using the TT in between. For three weeks, I began using the TT more frequently and began wearing my hair out in twist outs.

One weekend, I decided to put my hair back up in a protective styles (small twists). Little did I know what type of damage I was doing to my hair. As I parted my hair, I began finding mini "locks" in my hair, where the hair was matted. I've never had matted hair before just using a wide-tooth comb and my fingers.

I guess, that although the TT detangled portions of my hair, it also clumped small portions of it together, which caused the matting. This gave me the illusion of completely detangled hair. I couldn't detangle the matts, and ended up having to cut out them.

Second, I noticed that when I put my hair back in twists...my ends were wrecked. Usually, my ends don't frizz at the ends, when in twists. When dry..it just lays flat. When I wet them, they have these nice little spiral curls at the ends. But, after using the TT my ends were frizzy, indicating damage. I was devastated, since I had worn protective styles and had grown nearly two inches in length. Sadly, I also found an increased number of SS knots. I ended up having to cut an inch off my hair to minimize the damage.

The only thing I did differently in my hair routine was using the Tangle Teezer. So, bye bye TT! I prefer using my beloved wide-tooth shower comb again. Since I've stopped using the TT, my hair hasn't been experiencing the "mini locking" and my ends are slowly being nursed back to health.

I'm not saying that the TT doesn't work. It does, just beware, because the risks might outweigh the benefits of using it.

5.0 out of 5 stars I was extremely skeptical when I first picked this thing up, February 14, 2011

(REAL NAME)
I wasn't even trying to find a brush, but just happened to see it. After buying, I almost took it back to the store without trying...I said to myself "This flimsy thing will probably break before it will do the job" But thank god I actually did. This. Thing. Is. Amazing! I have semi-thick, highly textured hair (currently in a medium-sized afro) While I never had a hard time detangling per se, it took forever to do. There would be big knots I had to detangle with my fingers and tiny little faerie knots as well. Ugh!

This brush took me from down from 2 hours to about 30 minutes. So yeah, that's pretty damn good for $10, considering there are so many more expensive products out there that offer detangling without doing near as much as a simple brush does.

That said, I realize that it's actually not that different from brushes you may have seen before. I think the reason it does work so well for my hair is the fact that the bristles are variated lengths, don't have those nasty little knobs on the ends, and the palm-held design. (Jerking your hair sharply at an angle can't do anything to help tangles)

For people with less textured hair, this probably won't make much of a difference either way. But if not, what do you even need a detangling brush for?

5.0 out of 5 stars Best purchase I've ever made, January 2, 2011
Do not underestimate the simple construction of the product! And it looks a little scary, but its the most gentle way to detangle hair! It works wonders on my kinky curly hair! Where has this thing been all my life?

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm in love with this brush, March 11, 2011
I am African American w/chemical free 4a/b hair. Detangling my hair could be a bit time consuming. Using my modified Denman Brush felt a little like I was pulling my hair out. The tangle teezer goes through my hair with ease, and it doesn't hurt. Now I realize I wasn't completely detangling my hair w/the denman & comb. I am able to brush through from root to end, with no problem. The brush elongates/strecthes my hair. Pulling my hair back into a pony tail is easy now. I would never brush through dry hair, now I can brush wet or dry. This is the best brush I've ever used. Must have for all naturals

1.0 out of 5 stars Not for Natural 4A/B Hair, July 27, 2011
This review is from: Tangle Teezer Original Black (Health and Beauty)
I am trying to spare someone the same experience I had with this product. At first I was enthused about it as I thought that is was helping to untangle my newly washed hair. Over time though I found that parts of my hair were really breaking off as a result of using the Tangle Teaser. I am now in the process of regrowing the hair I lost. Since I have stopped using it and using something else to detangle, I am having no further problems. If you do decide to try it, please be aware of how much hair is in the Teaser after using it. If it is more than normal, don't assume that it is your hair that is damaged and is falling out. This product could very well be pulling it out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not a Teaser -- It Delivers, February 23, 2011

Tangle Teezer Original Professional Detangling Brush Pink

I've been on a wild goose chase trying to get my tangles into one of these things via instant gratification. After numerous rejections and wasted fuel, I resorted to old faithful Amazon for the fix. I received my order and ordered enough to share with my subscribers on the popular video sharing site!

I have afro textured hair and the Tangle Teezer handled my detangling process without a hiccup! I prefer to detangle on freshly washed, conditioner filled hair. Smooth and easy. It cut my detangle time down to 6 minutes and 36 seconds. And hair loss was minimal. Amazing.

Trust me, people are not kidding you when they say how well the Tangle Teezer works.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing product for curly hair!!, December 18, 2010
I purchase one of these in pink for my 3 year old daughter. WELL worth the $10. She has very curly hair and brushing has always been an experience with crying and struggle. This Tangle Teezer combs through her hair with ease. I wish I would have known about this earlier.

1.0 out of 5 stars DON'T GO NEAR THIS THING WITH A 30 FOOT POLE!, August 3, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I am shocked that I am saying this but it's the truth! I used to love the tangle teezer and used it all the time. It became part of my routine but then I noticed it damaging my hair. I have 4b-3c hair and it gave me many single strand knots. That's not even the worst part! I noticed near the ends of some strands that they were ripped from within with zipper-like incisions! It's like someone had taken a knife and split the single strand lengthwise so the strand opened up like an unzipped bag! The same strand above and below the incision was intact... really weird. Anywho, stay away! You don't want this thing ripping up your hair, I did a trim because of it! Thank God I caught the damage in time before it got serious!

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great on Transitioning Hair, May 1, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this originally for my 4 year old daughters type 4B hair but i tried it on my 4a hair which is transitioning from relaxers for 3 months now and it works great. I did a braid on partially dried hair after appying some leave in conditioner and the Tangle Teeezer did an excellent job of distributing the product throughout my armpit length hair and detangling it without any breakage. I am absolutely happy with it because the ergonomic design helps to avoid too much tugging on the hair. I did it with the brush cradled in one palm and hair sectioned and held flat in the other so the hair is basically sandwiched as you gently move the brush down towards the ends using shorter strokes to work through any tangles or knots as you go along. I expect that it will work equally well on my daughters hair after co-washing.
