Help Rapunzel Style Her Enchanting Locks with the Hair Braider
Now that Rapunzel is out of the tower and headed for adventure, she'll need extra help managing her gorgeously long mane. Rapunzel comes out of the box in a pretty purple dress accented with pink lace and shimmery flower detailing. Slip the matching shoes on Rapunzel's feet, and she'll be ready for her makeover.

Rapunzel crank-powered hair braider
Rapunzel's forest friends will help you braid her hair. View larger.
Made of sturdy, grass-textured plastic, the hand-cranked hair braider includes a wood-styled crank and three of Rapunzel's forest friends: a rabbit, squirrel, and raccoon. These cute helpers can be removed from the hair braider after use to join Rapunzel on her adventures.

Hair Braider Creates Real Braids
Using the hair braider is a breeze, though you may need to help smaller children prepare Rapunzel's hair. To use the hair braider, you'll need the hair clips, brush, and small elastic bands. Rapunzel is secured onto the hair braider with the plastic stand that fits around her legs and snaps into the machine.

To prepare Rapunzel's hair, gather three bundles into hair clips, fold them up, and secure them with small elastic bands. You'll then hand each bundle over to one of Rapunzel's forest friends. The small pegs on the hair clips snap easily into the creatures' bouquets. Kids will love turning the crank and seeing the forest creatures spinning the hair into a real, pretty braid.

What's in the Box
Rapunzel doll with dress and shoes, hair braider with doll holder, three forest creatures, three hair clips, hair brush, and six elastic bands.

My daughter wanted this toy so badly for her 6th birthday. She loves me braid her dolls hair. It was hard to get out of the package. When I finally got everything out and read the instrustions, I tried to set up the three little animals on the wheel. The rabbit was missing the piece to connect it to the knob so it would not stay on the wheel. I looked through everything and could not find the missing piece. It is very tiny!!!! So I had to super glue the rabbit on to the wheel. To actually get her hair set up, you need to have three equal pieces of hair. (She comes with two braids on each side of her head. I took those out and started fresh.) Then you have to clip the hair with a small clip, tuck up the end, and tie it on with a tiny ponytail. (No way my daughter could do all that, so she can't play with this toy by herself.) Then you have to snap the clips into the animals, at which point the super glue did not hold, so I had to do all over again and wait even longer for the glue to set. Finally I had everything ready again. My daughter excitedly twisted the handle and the braid started to braid only about half way down her hair. Then when the tension between the animals and the doll was to tight, the braid just got knotted. So all that for maybe two inches of braid!!!
I tried small pieces of hair and large pieces of hair, with all the same results. It definately would not braid large amounts of hair. The doll is very pretty and so is her dress. She comes with shoes, but I could not get them on her.
So, I now braid her hair myself. Just by the doll, this toy is defintely not worth the money. It simply does not work the way it should, and my daughter cannot play with it by herself. I love playing with my daughter, but not with a toy that has me so mad beacuse it is too time consuming and breaks!!!!

After reading the reviews about this doll I was extremely hesitant to buy it. However, my daugthter REALLY wanted it for her 6th birthday, so I went ahead and purchased it. Needless to say, everyone who wrote a bad review about this toy is right. The entire process of braiding the hair is over-complicated. It took me 25 minutes just to set up the doll for braiding, and when my daugther finally tried it, it came out awful. She is very disappointed and so am I. The toy maker and Disney should be ashamed of themselves for putting together such a worthless piece of junk and prying on little girls' wishes. I hope I can spare another parent the money and aggrevation.

This toy is terrible. The dolls braids she comes with are all frizzy on the ends. The braiding tool is a nightmare. There's no way my daughter could do it and takes me 20+ to prep only to have it work terribly. Don't waste your money...buy the doll by itself for $10 less.

We were very excited after reading the description of this toy. After taking it out of the box
and setting it up for brading the mechanism of this toy just turn to be cheep plastic faulty
working thing. One can turn the handle untill one turn blue but the animals will make
few turns and keep getting stucked almost every turn so after million tries one just get so frustrated.
I can't imagine how this can be marketed towards a child since an adult can not make it work.
It is very very poorly and cheeply made. It looks fantastic on the picture, the concept is great
but the execution is just miserable. Avoid dissapointment stay away. If you are compelled to try
buy locally with option to return it to spare yourself and your little one anticipation of
arrival of the toy only to get dissapointed. Target and Toysrus have this toy locally as it turned
out after we ordered it online only to get dissapointed. It is coming back today to Amazon.

I purchased this toy for two of my grandaughters who are 7years old. Hair wouldn't braid like the commercial and clips would slip off the hair. Both girls cried as it didn't work like the commercial on tv and I could't even make it work. It's worth $1 not $30. Don't waste your money.

I bought this toy because I love mechanical toys, especially if they are for girls and this toy has a great mechanism which girls can watch and learn from while doing something fun.

It is really annoying to get out of the box, but once that's over with it's really neat.

To use the toy:
First, you don't need to use the elastics to clip in the hair segments. I just used the little clips and it worked perfectly. Second, for the first half of the braid, you need to guide the hair upwards so that it will start braiding from top to bottom. Then, you're golden!

HUGE disappointment! I bought this for my five year old for her birthday and I want to warn everyone else NOT to purchase it. Impossible for a child to do themselves, hair gets tangled when you're trying to make a braid and if you can manage to actually get the tiny rubber bands on hair and then in an animal hook up the fun lasts for about 5 seconds. If I had known how difficult this was to use or how pointless it really is I never would have spent the $30 on it.

My 5 year old daughter spent her Halloween money (I give them $25 in exchange for all of their candy) to buy this for herself. She was very excited to get it open and braid the doll's hair. After 10 minutes with the scissors and a couple plastic cuts I was finally able to extract all the wee bitty pieces from the box.

I assembled it for her because it was a) too hard for her little fingers to push in the hair to the animals, and b) it was not apparent from the pieces what their function was and how they went together.

She braided the hair twice and then set it aside. I came back later to find that she had removed the pink bits from the end of the hair strands because she wanted to braid more than just two braids. She was unable to secure the pink things to the hair strands herself. I too was unable to do so. Blame my fat finger. Blame her weak fingers. In either case, we can now no longer braid her hair at all, so what we have is a doll and an unworking braiding machine.

My advice? Just get the doll and braid the hair by hand.
