5.0 out of 5 stars Dancing with Mr. Tambourine Man
The parallels Gilmour draws between Dylan lyrics and Bible verses are clearly presented in chart form. 3.0 out of 5 stars Dylan and Tangled up in the Bible
Interesting but writing feels dead, due to the way it is written. Like an academic paper! This is the opposite of Dylan's Lyrics. I kept thinking it must come alive soon. Hard Work! Perhaps better if one had all the lyrics and could listen as one reads!. All that said I am glad to have read the book as it stimulated my thinking. Liz Farrands

Far beyond my appreciation for Gilmour's scholarly research and ludidity, I appreciate his awareness of and ability to express the delicate shadings of meaning/feeling in Dylan's work, laden as it is with ambiguity, allusion, and subtle shiftings. Gilmour does not detract from its suggestive power by offering an objective analysis, but acknowledges that imaginative participation and personal interpretation are key to a rewarding experience in listening to Dylan.
