I have no idea what these other reviewers are thinking. They are either close personal friends with the author or loyal members of the Yarn Mafia. This book is filled with grossly repetitive inner dialogue that lends nothing but length to this book(I found myself skipping huge sections of text), imagined angst(ridicuous and boring), and completely laughable(and not in a good way) interchanges between the male characters. If this author has ever been in the same room with a man, I'd be surprised. There are pages upon pages involving an old woman with a magic spinning wheel. That's right folks. A magic spinning wheel from which she spins magic alpaca hair yarn that will make the protagonists fall in love. Uh huh. I spent money on this book!? And then there's the ending. Everything wraps up in a perfect, perdictable bow in two pages. Save your money. I wish I had. I would have to be tangled up and trapped to ever read anything by this author again.

In this "Battle of the Sexes" story, the H&H continually try to one-up each other, and things come to a head when Ronnie (short for Veronica) bets Dylan he can't learn how to knit. The bet forces them to spend entirely too much time together, and they end up falling in love. It's really a cute story, but I got a little annoyed with the Battle of the Sexes theme and I didn't connect with the overly independent Ice Queen heroine. And although the adorable cover makes this look like it'll be a sweet romantic comedy, I was surprised to find out that it's anything but tame. The sex is hot and graphic. I'd actually call this an erotic romance. Anyway, it's cute and sexy and was a lot of fun to read.

Pleasant and fun, but similar to other romance novels. I wanted to be a little more surprised or delighted.,

STORY BRIEF:
Dylan and Ronnie both applied for the job of columnist at the Cleveland Herald. Dylan got it. Ronnie became a columnist for a smaller rival newspaper. They hate each other. In their columns they challenge and dare each other to go bungee jumping, white-water rafting, getting a tattoo, etc. to see who will wimp out first. Ronnie's latest taunt: she dares Dylan to learn to knit and complete a knitted item within the month. Dylan attends Ronnie's weekly knitting circle and has other interactions with Ronnie during this project. REVIEWER'S OPINION: This was a pleasant story. It was fun watching Dylan and Ronnie fall for each other, going from hate, to lust, to love. The ending was nice. The characters and plot were typical for contemporary romance, but I'm looking for something a little different. I might have liked more unique and interesting character development. There were several sex scenes that seemed longer than expected due to a lot of conversation within those scenes. There is a hint of fantasy in the story. One character believes an item has a magical quality. DATA: Story length: 296 pages. Swearing language: strong (including religious swear words). Sexual language: strong. Number of sex scenes: 8. Total number of sex scene pages: 39. Setting: current day Cleveland, Ohio, and Mercer, Pennsylvania. Copyright: 2009. Genre: erotic contemporary romance with a hint of fantasy.

Veronica has great friends, a great job , her only frustration in life is a rival newspaper columns Dylan. Dylan and Veronica continue to challenge each other to bungee jump, get a tattoo. Now Veronica has challenge Dylan to learn how to knit. Dylan finds Veronica very attractive and can't stop thinking about where she put the tattoo. This is very fun, sexual novel and a great beginning to a new series.
I am looking forward to more from the Chicks with Sticks series; Loves Me, Loves Me Knot -- Book 2 due out August 2009 and Knock me for a loop -- Book 3 due out February 2010.

Tangled Up is Terrific!,

Tangled Up In Love has got everything - laugh-out-loud humor, characters you'll fall in love with, and a romance so hot and so meant to be, that I couldn't read fast enough. I loved reading every page of Dylan and Ronnie's story - they're written so well and ring so true, that I felt like I was right there in the story with them. I found them both down to earth, the banter between them fun and completely engaging, and the premise of bitter rivals hopelessly attracted to one another, irresistible. This book is a must read for any romance lover!

This book has a cute premise, oneupmanship between two writers who happen to be male and female. They also happen to be attracted to one another. When Ronnie challenges Dylan to learn to knit in a month, it becomes more of a challenge in who can resist the attraction between them the longest.
As I said before, the premise was good, the secondary characters, like the main characters are well developed and you are kept busy while you are reading but there is a lot of sex that keeps repeating and that can be distracting. After the first scene, it becomes repetitive and at times seems to be "filler" as if the author has lost her place and needs to find it again. I thought the group of women getting together every week to knit and talk is a great subplot but the unbelivable part is the "magic" spinning wheel that spins the yarn and brings Ronnie and Dylan together. I am not sure if I will read the other books in this series so I am giving this book 3 stars.

The best thing about this book was the competition between Ronnie and Dylan which was explained in the first chapter. After that, the book fell flat. The conversations between the women during their knitting circle was obnoxious and unrealistic and the scene about thirteen orgasms in one night was so unbelievable and even a little boring to read, I literally rolled my eyes and thought...yeah, right.
I just didn't think the characters fit any of their roles and the only chemistry between Ronnie and Dylan was between the sheets or wherever. As for the knitting woven in and out of the pages, I didn't buy it. I'm a knitter and I appreciate the craft in all its forms, but I have to say this book made me want to stick my own needles in my eyes! It goes without saying that I won't be reading the other books in the series.

I loved this book. I felt it was a great love story with laughs through out. I loved the way the story moved, the characters had great chemistry, and Heidi Betts had me laughing out loud. This story had laughs, romance, hot sex scenes and friendship. It was a whole lot of fun that I plan on re-reading again. A must read on my list!

enjoyable whimsical contemporary romance,
This review is from: Tangled Up In Love (Mass Market Paperback)
Over a year ago, Dylan Stone was selected as the Cleveland Herald columnist beating rival Veronica Chasen for the position. Ronnie is not a good loser as she takes a columnist position at the lesser read Cleveland Sentinel. They begin a weekly challenge of dares in which each claims their gender's superiority. She has played ice hockey goalie and bungee jumped while he leaped out of a plane in spite of his fear of heights; neither will surrender the contest although she has won from him his prize possession the Harrison Award trophy.
However, her latest challenge may prove the toughest yet even more than her tattoo on her butt. She dares Dylan to knit a polished item within a month. Dylan tries self help manuals but fails. He visits the Knit Wits club at the Yarn Barn run by Ronnie's Aunt Charlotte Langan who agrees to give him knitting lessons; which she ironically turns him over to her niece. Dylan offers Ronnie $1000 to teach him; so she wins either way. Charlotte knows the two obstinate adversaries are attracted to one another; so she brings down her grandmother's "magical" spinning wheel to knit the knot of love one stitch at a time. TANGLED UP IN LOVE is an enjoyable whimsical contemporary romance starring two rivals whose attraction begins with the butt as he grows stiff admiring hers and she thinks he is Mr. Jackass. Fans will enjoy this lighthearted romp while wondering whether Charlotte's spinning wheel worked its magical spell as she believes or just being together outside The Penalty Box gave love the opportunity to knit two people into one relationship.
