5.0 out of 5 stars tango music isn't just for dancing!, March 23, 2000
The Piazzolla music on this CD is absolutely wondrous, and it felt like being inside a tango movie listening to it. Very moving, stirring music. Check out "Milonga del angel," "Melodia en La menor," for instance. The delicate, melancholic melodies in these selections seem to hover precariously in mid-air. There are gently flowing cinematic pieces, and then those with rapid, quickly changing rhythms, all of which are guaranteed to stir the deepest recesses of your soul. Do yourself a favor and grab a copy of this excellent CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Worthy Tribute, December 1, 2000
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have listened to a number of orchestral interpretations of Piazzolla's music and this ranks among the best. Conductor Rudolf Werthen and I Fiamminghi here present a meaty representation of Piazzolla's work offering a judicious mix of pure orchestra, vocals, and those tunes that are bandoneon-driven. It helps that bandoneonist Juan Jose Mosalini once worked with Piazzolla. The whole CD is good but among the highlights are a driving rendition of Tanguedia, Lo Que Vendra, Milonga del Angel, Oblivion (one of Piazzolla's greatest compositions), and a rousing Adios Nonino. The orchestra does not neglect Piazzolla's later work. Street Tango and Knife Fight, true to the spirit of the arrabal, are performed with great gusto. The performances and the recording are technically excellent, and while it lacks some of the passion that Piazzolla brought to his work it is still a worthy tribute. Whether at home or in the office, this is one CD I will listen to often.

5.0 out of 5 stars Seven Stars! Laura Lahera's voice is an enchantment!, July 6, 1999
Seven Stars. Laura Lahera's voice is an enchantement!!! Please relax and listen to "Caserón de Tejas" and "A Homero" sung by lovely Laura Lahera and accompained with the superb guitar of Master Fulvio Paredes and you'll soon know what the future voice of tango will sound like! "Laura Lahera owns a particular virtuousity in holding the tone of her crystal pure and flawless voise until the last breath, showing off an incredible capacity of ending the tone with a surprising energy." This was the comment of Ricardo Fiorio, a true master of bandoneon, in one of his mails commenting her skill. I'm a very happy man having those two outstanding artists as my friends! I hope their new album will show soon within the products of amazon.com! Suerte y abrazukis a los dos!
