5.0 out of 5 stars Master level instruction
Tango can be one of the hardest dances to learn by video but this video makes it very easy.
After following the detailed instruction in this dvd you will be able to Tango with style for a complete Tango song.
Each of the steps flows beautifully into the next step so the flow you learn is great.
Highly recommended.

2.0 out of 5 stars A bit dissapointed -
I am a very capable dancer, but purchased this video for my non-dancing fiancé as a foray into uncharted dance territory. Having participated and taught in multiple dance classes over the years (clearly not tango), I was surprised by how stoic and cold the instruction was. Not terrible, just poorly articulated and difficult to understand at moments. I do find...

5.0 out of 5 stars Ideal start, September 6, 2002
Ideal start to the tango is what this video is. Everything is simple, straightforward, and most importantly correct in the sense of authentic argentine tango. Once I mastered this volume 1, I was ready and not afraid to go out and ask any woman to dance with me. The proper technique, posture, and simple basic steps, gave me confidence that I needed. I am currently on volume 2, which expands the world of argentine tango walk - which immediately identifies and differentiates this dance from anything else out there. I just can't stop walking - the argentine way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than VHS, January 3, 2003
By
This review is from: The Tango Fundamentals: Volume One - Basic Elements (DVD)
This is a DVD version of the same excellent volume 1 of the Tango Fundamentals by Fabian Salas. The advantage here is the digital quality and the interactive menue which gives direct access to all ten lessons, plus the terrific exhibition dancing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best in class, August 2, 2002
By A Customer
This instructional video is the best in its class. Lessons are simple and fun, progression is quick and easy, yet the tango being taught here is the authentic Argentine tango. What more can one ask? Well, maybe a DVD edition ... In any case, this is the best way to start learning the most intimate dance of all time - the Tango!

5.0 out of 5 stars Effective and fun, November 30, 2001

Effective exercises in each of the 10 lessons in this video make learning tango easy and fun. The instruction is clear and to the point. Demonstrations are excellent. Fabian Salas is clearly a very talented teacher and fantastic dancer. Finally, there is a high-quality instructional video, in English, from an authentic professional Argentine Tango maestro. Can't wait for the next videos from Tango Dynamics.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent beginning video in tango argentino, December 18, 2001
By
This video, being the first in this series, is an excellent beginning video in tango argentino. Essentially, it consists of several fundamental ingredients, including the form and structure of the tango, variations in music and rhythm, lead and follow, and basic ideas on how authentic argentine tango is danced. The production quality is excellent, and the instructors are world-class. Highly recommend it for beginners!

This DVD does everything correctly. It starts with good simple exercises, explains them completely with excellent close-up camera work all the time. No dead time with just talking. It's all dancing - a full hours worth - with clear running explanation of what you are watching. Highly recommend - The Tango Fundamentals.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very useful tool, November 22, 2001
By A Customer
This video is a very useful tool to use if you want to learn to dance argentine tango quickly and properly. The instruction starts with very simple lessons that teach basic rhythmic walking, tango embrace, and lead an follow concepts. I liked the close-up views that demonstrate how feet should move, in slow motion and also with music. Instruction is in English by Fabian Salas himself, which is great, since you are getting it from the master teacher, not through a translator or subtitles. The video ends with a demonstration dance that incorporates all the material learned in the ten lessons. A very elegant dance indeed. Of course, the two exhibitions at the start of the tape, taped in front of live audiences, are absolutely amazing, and show how much there is to the world of argentine tango. Five stars plus.

5.0 out of 5 stars 10 easy lessons of Argentine Tango, November 20, 2001
By
"uanditango" (Los Angeles, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This video is comprised of 10 lessons, which start at the very basic and progress at an easy pace. Different viewing angles and slow motion are very useful. Excellent quality images and sound. Especially impressive is the impeccable footwork of the teachers - Fabian Salas and Cecilia Gonzalez. The style of dancing being taught is very elegant, as authentic argentine tango is. The two exhibitions by Fabian and Cecilia are very impressive and a great bonus. Well done!

5.0 out of 5 stars Why Tango?, January 10, 2005
This review is from: The Tango Fundamentals: Volume One - Basic Elements (DVD)
Argentine tango is unique when it comes to couple dancing. It is more intimate, sensual, meditative, and relaxed, yes relaxed, than any other comparable dance. What instantly identifies Argentine Tango is its music - heartbreakingly beautiful, especially when compared to the ballroom dancing music. To teach this art form - Argentine Tango - requires a lot more skill and experience than what one might get from a teacher at an average ballroom studio. In this case, the teachers are famous around the world, not just as dancers, but as professors of this dance. I've been lucky enough to attend several workshops with Fabian Salas. His classes are so much fun, thanks to his great personality (lots of humor). His skills as a teacher are absolutely superb. Yes, it can be hard to translate all the intangibles of being on the same dance floor with this great instructor into a 60 minutes video, but if one can't get a class with this teacher, then this DVD is the next best thing. As far as getting one's mate into this dance, all it takes is one embrace, as taught in this video, and a few simple steps to the incredible music of Argentine Tango, and you'll be hooked for life.
