5.0 out of 5 stars Great foundation

5.0 out of 5 stars Great foundation, November 19, 2002
By A Customer
This video builds a great foundation for learning more advanced steps and figures in Argentine tango. Turns (a.k.a. giros) are so fundamental and so argentine that without mastering them there is little hope that one can become an advanced tanguero. The instruction in this video starts with very simple concepts and exercises, and then builds up to more advanced and complex patterns, yet staying easy and fun to do. Great teachers, excellent production quality, highly recommend it for all aspiring tango dancers.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is it, January 10, 2003
By A Customer
Giros is what separates true argentine dancers from pretenders. Pretenders are the ones who can make ochos and ganchos, etc., but can't really execute turns (giros). This video makes learning the traditionally challenging giros easy. The exercises are excellent and progression is quick. If you learn to do giros (and you will using this video), you can be satisfied in knowing that you are dancing the authentic Tango Argentino.

5.0 out of 5 stars Turning bliss, October 24, 2002
By A Customer
Argentine tango giros or turns can be done in a circle or in a line, and are an amazing sight when done properly and with speed. In this video, the art and science of giros is made simple and easy to learn for both women and men. The close-up scenes concentrate on proper technique and footwork, while teacher's commentary explains various rhythmic variations. Once you master them, the argentine turns can be a blissful experience. All that's needed is some practice and guidance, which this video definitely provides.

5.0 out of 5 stars Intricate yet simple, August 20, 2002
By A Customer
The intricate world of argentine tango giros is made simple in this fantastic instructional video. Usually, giros are difficult to master, but if you follow this video, lesson by lesson, it's simple. Why don't all tango instructors teach this way? The exercises shown by the teachers here are very effective and extremely useful for both men and women. This video builds a great foundation for more advanced argentine tango moves and patterns. Highly recommend it for all tango lovers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nicely done, May 27, 2003

The instructor delivers on his promise. The steps are easy to learn and the instruction is easy to follow. The progression is quick and, once again, easy. Image quality is excellent and various camera angles are very helpful. Overall, a must have volume for beginners or even teachers (why not copy something that works so well?). Nicely done.

This series is among the best I have seen in ballroom dance instruction. Attending milongas (get togethers devoted to Argentinian tango)has been difficult without an understanding of the basics. This three part series develops the confidence you need to attend milongas.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Tango Fundamentals - Volume 3: Basic Giros, January 27, 2008
This review is from: The Tango Fundamentals: Volume Three - Basic Giros (DVD)
I have purchased 3 different argentine tango teaching dvd's. This is by far the best I have seen, it's clear and has enough repetition that you can learn from it. You feel you are in an argentine dance studio, adding the very distinct flavor of this tango. I recommend this teacher the most out of all of them. He is anrelaxed and experienced teacher.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting info but simple and short, June 21, 2007
This review is from: The Tango Fundamentals: Volume Three - Basic Giros (DVD)
Fabian Salas is a well known dancer and dance improver. Anyway this video does not show all he can give about Turns (I know, Basic, too basic...)
The material covered is in progressive sequence and is well explained in good english.
Lessons are a bit of redundant just like you could not use your Rewind button to see what happens. The feeling is the video is slow and short at a time -58min.
This dvd is not expensive but could cover more for sure.
