In this book, TANGO, TANGOING: POEMS AND ART, Mong-Lan captures an essential component of what Tango represents. She reveals in her poems, the same feeling a tango dancer manifests in his or her dance. The evocative response from the music, the intimacy of each dance partner, the indifference of the surroundings, and the warmth and passion of the embrace as they dance and get lost in a chaotic universe of emotions.
When I read her poems, I get transported to that place where all the senses get stimulated and overwhelmed by the music and the dance.....one word at a time....one Poem at a time.
The book combines more than one writing style, making it more interesting and dynamic reading. Her drawings seem to come alive as the echoing of her poems draw your attention to them.
This book will entice you to the amazing world of Tango! A must read!

This remarkable and enthralling book on tango art and poetry flows like a river, taking you through a journey of of deep emotion, from elation to rending sadness, through quiet and disquiet. Each poem pulls at your heart, the words making you one with the passion and drama of the tango, the Argentine partner dance, and of the people of Buenos Aires.

This is a unique way to learn the dynamics of this incredible dance as well as the intense tribulations of a people. Interspersed through the book are short sections of prose, linking dancers in individuality and in partnership to their inner selves, exploring the dimensions of mind and heart.

The art work is sublime, subtle, suggestive, always drawing you in ever closer to your innermost romance and turmoil.

This bilingual version is a great way to learn the language of the tango as well as the Spanish that is particular to Buenos Aires. The poems are recreated in Argentine Spanish, with impeccable and painstaking conformity to local dialect.

An amazing find, this book is a must-have, especially for every artist, poet and dancer, experienced and aspiring.

A fascinating combination: passionate poetry (almost erotic) on the TANGO, and original drawings in her own masterly style of tango dancers. I read this book by Mong-Lan so many times, and continue to discover the nuances each time. It's a bilingual book -- so you can learn Spanish or English with each reading. Just great!!

A mathematics of FIRE -- indeed! The fire of tango and poetry!
