I made the mistake of purchasing a less expensive Conair Thinner scale. It was woefully inaccurate, and if I stepped on it more than once, my weight varied by 3-5 pounds!! Back to the store that went for a full refund!! I also had a less expensive Tanita that I really liked, but the BMI function quit working after a few short months. I was able to return it to the place of purchase without a hassle. Figuring I got a dud Tanita, I was willing to give this brand another try. So, I bought the BC-534 as a replacement.

This one is as accurate as my Dr.'s scale. Don't look to step on an off of this scale for a better reading, because the repeatability on this one is excellent. I like the bone density and especially the BMI readout. I think the BMI on this Tanita scale is better than on the less expensive Tanita that I returned. The numbers are nice, big and high contrast for those of us with less than perfect eyesight.

I only give this four stars, because it isn't cheap, and the glass platform will need frequent cleaning if dust and water spots drive you crazy. You will also have to program it initially for your own use, which doesn't take long to do, and is easy.

I just bought the scale in the past month, before I began an effort to shed some weight. This scale has proven beneficial in both setting my caloric intake and keeping me motivated. Watching the pounds come off feels great and watching the body fat composition decline helps a ton. It is also nice to know that the scale is consistent. I love this thing!

I just got this scale a little while ago. About six months ago I had a gastric bypass and I can't seem to stop losing weight even though I've reached and passed my goal. This scale helped me understand what I need to do to change my metabolism and using the incredible tools that come with it I am able to mix elements in my diet and excersize to bring my metabolism down. I never thought I'd be trying to find a way to lower it.

If you follow the suggested uses for the scale, they give well designed instructions, you can make this a great support tool in your own life transformation.

I can't speak to BMI and the like because candidly I bought this for weight accuracy. Two weeks running, since I bought this scale, it has matched up exactly with the weight shown on the professional scales at Weight Watchers. I haven't found anything else in this price range that accurate.

Installed the batteries, set it up, selected my "personal key" and stepped on the scale. It cycled through the settings then read "Error", as if it was stuck in set-up mode. Never worked once. This product has serious quality problems as well as the accuracy issues raised by other reviewers. Buy something else.

The scale worked for less than 6 months. As others have reported, now it only gives error messages in all modes. Poor quality.

This scale is really helpful to my husband and I who are focused on losing weight. I like the BMR, bone mass and water, and body fat percentage on the scale because we are both concerned with losing fat/building muscle.

I purchased this scale in late 2005. It has seen use nearly every day since purchasing five years ago. I have found it to be consistent not only with weight measurement but with the other body composition features as well. There is absolutely no fluctuation in measurements regardless of how many consecutive times I step on the scale. I've been very pleased and I have absolutely nothing negative to say about it. It was well worth the investment.
