This traditionally designed dial scale from Tanita delivers weight measurements with a straight-forward, easy-to-read structure. Using a speedometer-type dial, the scale features a 5-inch face with large, clear digits marking every 20 pounds, and clear lines marking single pounds between. The white frame is made from sturdy metal, and the indicator is bright red for easy visibility. Suitable for a household or for tracking weight over time, the scale comes fitted with five sliding markers in rainbow colors. It zeroes out automatically when you step off and can be adjusted back to zero if it gets knocked out of alignment. Measuring 10-7/8 by 11-3/8 inches, the scale holds up to 280 pounds. For ten dollars you can only expect so much, no bells and whistles, for sure. This is a good simple scale that gives me an idea of my weight. I'm not a wrestler or bodybuilder, just a busy girl who likes to know roughly where I'm at. If you DO happen to be a wrestler, body builder, or weight fanatic who needs something ultra-accurate, you probably need to try the price range(s) up from this. If all you need to know is whether you've actually gained/lost 3-5 lbs., this works just fine! I gave it 4 stars because you do have to "zero it out" pretty regularly to keep the results consistent.

Really convenient especially if more than one person is going to use it. It remains accurate and consistent and I personally have not had to zero it out since I bought it in September. The color rings are really useful to keep track of target and current weights, and for different family members to keep their settings.

And funnily enough, you can lose 4 lbs too.

For the price, you don't expect a scale to be pound-perfect. You do not, however, expect there to be so much variance between readings on a flat floor with no movement of the scale.

We eventually worked out that standing position is everything (which is now obvious to us in retrospect) and if you are not stood in exactly the same position for each reading, your weight will flip-flop.

I weighed myself on some commercial equipment, got home and tried to get a like-for-like match. The most sensitive part of our scale is the part where your heels go. Make sure you hit the same spot every time and you're good to go.
