I had looked at the reviews and saw that the Tanita scales overall did very well. So I purchased a cheaper Tanita scale (model HD 327) at first, assuming that all the Tanita scales were reliable, but I was wrong.. I sent back the lower quality model because it was flimsy and not very accurate.. But I decided to give Tanita a second chance and purchased this model the HD 372. It is extremely acccurate, very sturdy, and well made. It is also very attractive.. The blue back lit display is very readable even if you use it in the morning without your contact lenses or glasses on. It uses two different batteries, a nine volt for the blue backlight and a lithium battery for the digital readout. So you could leave out the nine volt battery if you didn't want to use the light.. I've tested the accuracy by weighing known weights, such as free weights with it and it's always accurate. You can't go wrong with this scale.

This is their higher end glass top lithium model, which has a higher load capacity than their lower end models. This one also looks very contemporary and is very sleek. This scale is definitely more accurate than all the other similar scales I've tried. I can get on and off within minutes and each time, it will give me the same reading. I am very happy with this Tanita scale. In fact, I am so happy that I am getting as second one (HD370) for so I can have one in the master bath and one for the guest bath.

I ordered this scale on November 27th, and with Super Saver shiping, I expected it to take at least 7-10 days to arrive. It arrived on November 30th. It was almost ready to use as soon as I removed it from the box. I weighed myself 3 times, consecutively, and it was exactly the same every time. It seems to be very sturdy, and is also not bad to look at (for a scale). I would recommend this scale to any of my family or friends.

I needed a scale that was accurate and easy to read. This Tanita scale is great. I weighed myself three times in a roll, and received the exact weight each time. Weight is shown in pounds and ounces. Amazon.com makes it easy to order from, no tax and shipping cost is a big plus!! I have bought severial different brands of scales in the past, all were worthless, not accurate and broke in a short time of use. I have a friend that purchased a Tanita scales and is very pleased. In fact he was the one that advised me to buy a Tanita Scale. It was good advise, i'm glad I took it.

I received this scale several days ago. It is remarkably consistent in its readings. Easy to read; attractive design.

This is a scale that is both accurate and stylish. I have had one myself for quite a while, and recently bought several as gifts for relatives. It may take a couple of times before one gets used to briefly stepping on and off it to start the scale, before weighing, because it must first "tare" itself, just like a chemical balance. But after one gets used to that, it is a great scale!

Several reviewers have complained about this scale, and I have a guess about what caused those complaints. The good news is that the problem is easily circumvent by the user. The scale uses a 9 V battery, which has a polarized plug. Normally, such batteries are used with a flexible, polarized battery connector that allows no ambiguity about which pole is connected to the plus and minus terminals. The Tanita, however, doesn't use this standard method, but instead has a battery compartment that allows the battery to be inserted with the wrong polarity. Moreover, the 9V battery supplied with the unit has minuscule polarity signs. Therefore, pay close attention to the polarity before inserting the battery.

The omission of a properly polarized connector is a simple design error that Tanita should correct.

I bought this scale based on the positive reviews, thinking I could cope with any problems mentioned by the negative reviews. I was wrong. First let me say that on rare occasion the scale does work and I would be quite satisfied if it continued to do so. However, I often get a "Lo" message, meaning the lithium battery is low. I tried a new battery and still get the message. The message will go away if you pick up the scale and press on the battery. Assuming you get by the "Lo" message the scale lights up with a tap and "00.0" appears. Then you step on the scale and wait a few seconds for your weight to appear. If the "00.0" appears in dark letters there is a good chance that your weight will subsequently be shown. 19 out of 20 times nothing at all appears. I just want to step on a scale and get my weight. I cannot do that with this scale.

It's just a scale but... It worked straight out of the box no problem. The flat glass surface is easy to clean. If you have a nice (slate) floor the scale's see through surface keeps it low profile and does not dominate the room. My slate floor is not completely even and the scales rubber feet work well on it. And after 6 weeks its still very accurate (to a 10th of a Lb.). The blue back lighting that comes up only when in use is easy on the eyes and the big numbers are easy to see. Great price great scale.

I'm very pleased with my Tanita HD 372. It's beautiful on the eye and very reliable. I've been using mine for about a week now. And I've tested it for senstitivity by holding an object weighing less than a lb and seeing if putting it down would make a difference in the reading. It did. It measures accurately to 0.2 lbs, something I had not seen before in previous scales. Aesthetically, it's very beautiful, a combination of glass and stainless. The display is almost 2 inches and very easy read. Overall, an excellent buy.

I must say that I bought this scale with some trepidation, based on some of the lukewarm reviews. I am pleased to report that my scale has been working flawlessly for the past two months. I like the big illuminated numbers that I can read with out my glasses in the morning. The accuracy and reproducibly if the readings is is very good from reading to reading. I would recommend this scale for anyone on a serious weight loss regimen.
