5.0 out of 5 stars Costs more, but sturdy and compact
This pedometer beats all the crummy ones that are out there now--from Special K, freebies from insurance cos, etc. It costs a little more, but is compact and sturdy. Unfortunately, it is not waterproof---I left it on my jeans and tossed it in the washing machine. It actually still worked, but I could no longer clearly read the screen. I'm buying my second one today.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's better than some I've used
This gadget definitely has features I can appreciate: it's overall physical design works well...the clip does it's job and there are no sharp corners to snag on. It's easy to use and the digital display is large enough to see at a glance in low light. So far, however, I have noted a consistent %5-8 overage error margin in the steps logged.

If you are serious about losing weight or just calorie concious this is a great buy. Easy to program and very accurate.

1.0 out of 5 stars This item is junk, July 28, 2005
This review is from: Tanita PD-637 Pedometer (Health and Beauty)
Item simply did not work. It count steps pretty accurately but cannot convert to distance. Converting steps to miles resulted in a least a 75% error factor (usually higher). Company did not seem at all interested in exchanging or fixing

Very satisfied with this product. Easy to set up and use. Covers several modes including steps, miles, calories, timer and always has the current time available. I would certainly purchase again.

3.0 out of 5 stars OK for the price, January 9, 2007

The pedometer works pretty well. You have to be sure to wear it on your hip if you want it to count steps accurately. It only accepts stride measurements in even numbers: 28", 30", 32". So if your stride is 31" you have to set it to measure a bit more or a bit less than the actual distance you walk.
