4.0 out of 5 stars It works
For ten dollars you can only expect so much, no bells and whistles, for sure. This is a good simple scale that gives me an idea of my weight. I'm not a wrestler or bodybuilder, just a busy girl who likes to know roughly where I'm at. If you DO happen to be a wrestler, body builder, or weight fanatic who needs something ultra-accurate, you probably need to try the price...

3.0 out of 5 stars Did you know that you can gain 6 lbs just by having a shower?
And funnily enough, you can lose 4 lbs too.

For the price, you don't expect a scale to be pound-perfect. You do not, however, expect there to be so much variance between readings on a flat floor with no movement of the scale.

We eventually worked out that standing position is everything (which is now obvious to us in retrospect) and if you are not...

If you DO happen to be a wrestler, body builder, or weight fanatic who needs something ultra-accurate, you probably need to try the price range(s) up from this. If all you need to know is whether you've actually gained/lost 3-5 lbs., this works just fine! I gave it 4 stars because you do have to "zero it out" pretty regularly to keep the results consistent.

5.0 out of 5 stars A bargain, December 17, 2005
Really convenient especially if more than one person is going to use it. It remains accurate and consistent and I personally have not had to zero it out since I bought it in September. The color rings are really useful to keep track of target and current weights, and for different family members to keep their settings.

We eventually worked out that standing position is everything (which is now obvious to us in retrospect) and if you are not stood in exactly the same position for each reading, your weight will flip-flop.

I weighed myself on some commercial equipment, got home and tried to get a like-for-like match. The most sensitive part of our scale is the part where your heels go. Make sure you hit the same spot every time and you're good to go.

This is a lot of scale for a little money. It has an attractive look and the weight markers are a good feature. My only complaint is that I frequently have to adjust the dial to "0". I would recommend it to my friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Serves Basic Purpose, March 21, 2006

Look, I'm not into spending a gajillion dollars to determine how much I weigh. I don't really see the need for a digital scale so this scale worked out just fine for me. It's accurate and it was inexpensive.

This is a good basic scale but hard to read unless you have good distance vision and there isn't any glare.

The gauge on this toy-like item requires one to interpolate a 3" line from the ridiculus sawed-off pointer to the number scale. Not a bad scale if your margin of error is +/- 5 lbs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still working after 5 Years, April 9, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This scale holds up very well.
At this price-point I'm not expecting it to give me accuracy down to the ounces, so it serves its purposes fine.
I don't see how you can have problems if you just stand straight on a level surface (same surface all the time)
I haven't had problems getting 'about-right' readings from it.
It's just accurate enough to always tell me I'm 'just-about' overweight, for the last 5 years.

1.0 out of 5 stars Arrived broken, July 14, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The scale arrived with a clip floating around in the box. There's no way to put the clip back in its place as there are no screws on the bottom of the scale. The scale works up to about 60 lbs and then sticks at a weight. It is worthless to me, but cheap enough I didn't want to spend the time and effort in trying to get a refund.
