This device might look like a scale, but it presents a broader snapshot of personal health by not only determining weight, but estimating body fat as well. It does this by sending a safe, imperceptible, low-level electrical pulse (50 kHz) through the body. (Healthcare professionals use similar electrical-pulse devices to estimate body fat by what is known as Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis, or BIA.) The device operates on four AA batteries (included), and its digital screen displays body-fat readings in 1 percent increments and weight in either 1/2-pound or 0.2 kg increments, up to 300 pounds or 136 kg.
The TBF-621 stores data (gender and height) for two users, and has two modes: adult (over 18, with low to moderate physical activity) and child. (Other models have an athlete mode for highly active people.) Toe-tap a button to call up your data, and then step on the device. Within seconds, it displays your weight, followed by an estimate of body-fat percentage. Both will repeat before the device turns off automatically. I really like this scale. I deliberately waited to review it, to make sure it stood up under the abuse of two "not-so-tiny" adults and a couple of kids. The weight measurement is consistent, and if you follow the instructions, the fat measurement is accurate as well. Buy this scale with confidence.

Good scale. I have been happy with it and it has been accurate as far as I can tell. It is nice to have a scale that is accurate to several tenths of a pound. Our old scale flucuated by several pounds depending on how you were standing!
My only complaint is that my husband is sensitive to electrical charges and such (eg cell phones, cordless phones, etc) and the current from the fat measurement makes his feet hurt. It doesn't bother me at all; I just wish we could shut it off if we didn't want that part on.

I love this scale because I can measure my weight very accurately.However, my body fat is 29% and the scale has never budged from 40%. I think its the whole women and water thing that throws it off. But its a great scale for its price at $$$. Worth buying if you are monitoring your weight for any reason.
