Book Description

Tankbread has now been published by Permuted Press. You can find the current edition here: amazon.com/Tankbread-ebook/dp/B00BVRQN0W/permutedpress-20

Ten years ago humanity lost the war for survival against a spreading plague that brought the dead back to life as flesh eating monsters.

Now intelligent zombies rule the world. Feeding the undead a steady diet of cloned people called Tankbread, the survivors live in a dangerous world on the brink of final extinction.

One outlaw courier must go on a journey through the post-apocalyptic wasteland of Australia. Fighting his way into the very heart of the apocalypse in the desperate search for a way to save the last humans and destroy the undead threat.

His only companion is a girl with an extraordinary secret. Her name is Else and she's Tankbread

Praise for Tankbread
Paul Mannering's TANKBREAD is a guts and glory joyride into very dark territory. Very nasty and lots of fun!"
~ Jonathan Maberry, New York Times bestselling author of DEAD OF NIGHT and DUST & DECAY

Mannering's take on the post-zombie apocalypse is scarifyingly real. Baked dog while you take orders from your zombie master anyone? Sink your teeth into an Australia where the zombies are in charge - you won't be disappointed.

~ Rocky Wood, author of STEPHEN KING: A LITERARY COMPANION and HORRORS! GREAT STORIES OF FEAR AND THEIR CREATORS

"Tankbread reads like a tick-list of genre staples: tens of thousands of
zombies, a brave, wise-cracking warrior hero, a beautiful woman who
might just hold the key to everything, mad scientists, and even a knight
in shining armour and a helicopter-piloting mother superior thrown into
the mix! And yet the whole is far greater than the sum of its disparate
parts. Tankbread is a blast from start to finish. A breathless,
country-crossing zombie epic - kind of like Mad Max colliding head on
with Dawn of the Dead. Mixing great action scenes, laugh-out loud moments, copious amounts of
horror and lead characters you really grow to give a damn about,
Tankbread is a unique and very entertaining entry in the over-saturated
zombie genre. Read it and enjoy it - I did."

~ David Moody, author of the AUTUMN and HATER series.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fast-paced zombie action March 30, 2012
By Karen
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I love a good zombie novel and Tankbread is really promising to start with. The idea of genetically engineered 'tankbread' to feed zombies is something I haven't seen before, so it was an original take on the whole premise of the zombie apocalypse. However, I felt there were far too many action sequences and not enough character development. It felt a little like a 'boys own' adventure at times - it would have been nice to have a breather in between zombie killing scenes.
I still feel like this book is worth purchasing though, especially if you're a zombie/action fan. The author writes well and I'd be interested to see what he comes up with next.

5.0 out of 5 stars You can teach an old genre new tricks February 16, 2012
By Mat
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Zombies are my preferred horror baddies, but honestly, just about everything scary you can do with a horde has been done. What don't we get enough of? A) Locations that aren't in America; B) protagonists that you actually prefer to see live; C) monsters with intelligence ranging from animal to Republican -- this has all of that, and from an indie author. It's a great read and it's got me interested in checking out the rest of Mannering's back-catalog.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting Take On The Zombie Genre Plus Good Action January 7, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I enjoyed this read. The concept of intelligent zombies drew me in and the non-stop action kept me hooked. I also found it cool that it was set in Australia. It's nice to read a zombie story set somewhere other than the US. Highly recommended for fans of this genre.
