not enough John Lilly,
This review is from: Tanks for the Memories: Floatation Tank Talks (Consciousness Classics) (Paperback)
The first half of the book is worth reading- Dr. John C. Lilly giving talks on the floatation tank. But the second half consists of talks given by one E.J. Gold. I found his speaking style to be incredibly obscure to the point of being unintelligible (and I've read many books on mysticism). He's supposed to be a shaman and shows irritation at a child entering the room. His drawings, which are scattered throughout the book, may actually be worse than his talks if that's possible. They are little sketches unrelated to the material which look to me to have been drawn in about 30 seconds at most. I came away feeling insulted after the EJ Gold section. Weighing in at only 139 pages, this book is too small to be selling for the stated price. I felt cheated after slogging through the EJ Gold section and horrible drawings. I don't know if this man was a good personal friend of the late John Lilly or what..I'm at a loss how he got on board this project; He just seems to be riding Dr. Lilly's coatails. The credits say he is "isolated from the media" and "has never been highly marketed". Well now I see why. I don't think anyone is going to be banging on his door anytime soon.

John Lilly invented the floatation tank. In chapters 1-3 he explains the how, why and possibilities. Useful. Unfortunately, E.J. Gold contributed chapters 4-8. Gold tells everyone at a floatation tank workshop "do not wee-wee in the tank". Right. Gold also contributed ink drawings throughout the book that are just plain weird, hard to take and disturbed. Skip this book and find floatation tank information elsewhere

enlightening words about remarkable experiences that most can only imagine. Treated with respect and near reverence by an editor that takes the time to know her subject and her material.Very impressive!
