This is the first time I've reviewed on Amazon, but I couldn't miss the opportunity to spread the word on LOA. Whatever mood I'm in, Tanks and Recognizers gets right in there and ratches it up a notch. If you like Mogwai, Postal Service, Radiohead, My Bloody Valentine, Underworld, Interpol, or any other of that broad ilk, you'll love these guys. They've opened for Mogwai, I can picture them on a car commercial, and they've played with garage-y type bands (okay, maybe a bit of a strange fit there).

BEST OF 2007!A three member group, consisting of Mike Ystad, Chris Schafer, and Mike Rush, debut their second full-length release on a well established electronic label, which had an astonishing output for this year. Tanks and Recognizers is more than just a sweet concoction of electronic, post-rock, and ambient - it is an album that flows effortlessly, track after track, through a story told by soothing, atmospheric, and spacey guitars. The Milwaukee based band coordinates elements of ethereal sound into miniature, yet detailed soundscapes that leave one counting down to the night, in anticipation of total darkness, as the necessary, but not included component of the album. The weightless percussion establishes a sense of well-being, while the gentle voices confidently assure total tranquility. This is the music that spins around in my head, even as I float in the sensory deprivation chamber.
