Great book, small package.,

This review is from: Tanks of World War II (The Collins/Jane's Gems) (Paperback)
This is an excellent book, full of the common tanks, armored cars, tank destroyers, and some specialized varients, such as flamethrower tanks. Each is accompanied by a picture and detailed specs. My only complaint is the binding is rather weak, but for the price, well worth your money.

A fun little book for the casual reader,

This review is from: Tanks of World War II (The Collins/Jane's Gems) (Paperback)
This book is in a very small format, with tiny illustrations, which means that it's easy to carry around. This is a benefit for wargamers (like me). All inn all, the tanks described are typical of the era, and the book is well worth the small amount it costs.

This review is from: Tanks of World War II (The Collins/Jane's Gems) (Paperback)
Although this book is physically small, it is loaded with great readable information and very nice photos. Terry Gander has writteninformative, sucinct, and concise entries to all the tank types (not just the the major types of a few big nations). Strictly speaking it does not cover " all" tanks, but to do that would take a book at least three times the size. Although I consider myself a amateur expert on armored vehicles; I learned a few things that I didn't know about or had forgotten about tanks. A great deal of this information is the sort of stuff you don't see in some of the more technical books and this is not for those who are obsessed with gear ratios, composition of the floor mats or capacity of the radiator. A great little book that you can carry in your pocket, if you are so inclined, it is a real page turner that is hard to put down, but can be read in small segments. An ideal "bath room" book that's just right for those occasions when you only have a few minutes. |
