5.0 out of 5 stars One of the more unique musical styles I've encountered, August 5, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Tantanacui (Audio CD)
Ancient and new music combine to form a wonderful listening experience. I saw them in person and their music was at once energetic and soothing. This CD covers those two spectrums as these South American Indians perform on their native instruments. There are sounds reminicent of American Indian music, Latin beats and even a celtic lilt to their music. Thats' what makes this CD so unique and enjoyable, the newness of the sound to our ears of this ancient music.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good music, June 29, 2006
This review is from: Tantanacui (Audio CD)
I saw this group performing on the street in Seattle and stopped to listen and couldn't leave without buying this CD so I could take this great music with me. The music is a mixture of Andean (recall the woodwinds from El Condor Pasa on the Simon and Garfunkel album?) with Latin and an occasional Celtic flavor. If these appeal to you, you'll enjoy this CD. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I wanted more of that beautiful, melancholy Andean woodwind sound, but maybe that would have been too much of a good thing. Having said that, this is very happy music performed by talented musicians that will at times move you with its soulfulness. Highly recommended.

Excellent music. Mood enhancing. Superior for driving, especially at high volume and this from a Stones fan. This is the band's seventh compact disc. I've had the fortune of seeing them play live two different times, both intense. Give them a try.
