Absolutely Not for Beginners,

This review is from: Tantus Severin Medium Anal Plug, Black (Health and Beauty)
This anal plug, like other Tantus products, is well-made of high-grade "platinum" silicone. This provides a resilient toy with a mirror-smooth finish that is easy to clean -- a definite plus for device of this kind. Lubrication must always be used.
The Severin Medium stands 4-1/2" high (4-1/4" insertable). The larger bulb is about 1-7/8" in diameter at its widest point. That is a serious diameter to cope with, and definitely not for beginners. In my own case, while I have no problem with the competing Doc Johnson Anal Plug, Black, Medium, which measures 1-5/8" at its widest point, I have not quite managed to get this one to go in. I believe that I will succeed one day, but in the meantime I can tell you that the seemingly small 1/4" difference between 1-5/8" and 1-7/8" doesn't seem small when you're struggling with it! Accordingly, this unit is definitely one to work up to. It is absolutely not for beginners, and will provide a challenge even for more experienced users. Unless you already can comfortably accept units such as the 1-5/8" Doc Johnson medium plug mentioned above, or Tantus's smaller companion unit, the 1-1/2" Tantus Severin Small Anal Plug, Black, it would probably be a waste of money to order this plug. Because I have not yet succeeded in full insertion with this unit, I cannot confirm whether or not it will stay in securely once inserted. The small version of this plug does not stay in reliably, as I noted in the review for that unit. This one looks like it might be more reliable, because there is a more significant difference between the diameter of the large bulb and the diameter of the shank leading to the base. This threshold tends to make the unit move inward when the muscle is clenched, rather than being expelled. Also, the length of this shank is 1-1/4", which would also tend to enhance retention of it. One nice feature of the unit I received is that the base is relatively thin, and therefore comfortable to wear. The Severin Small has such a beefy base that it tends to poke into your cheeks. This one will curl out of the way, and should be quite comfortable. I can't tell whether this base thickness varies from unit to unit as they are molded, or whether it's inherent in the design of the two plugs, so your experience may vary. It would be nice if Tantus reduced the thickness of all their bases to be similar to this one. In summary, this plug is for advanced players only. The Tantus quality makes it an excellent choice as far as material and ease of care, but it will sit unused in a drawer unless unless you have the patience to work up to it. It is not for freshmen or even sophomores. UPDATE: Since writing the original review, I have succeeded in accommodating this plug. I can confirm, therefore, that it stays in place reliably once inserted. In addition, use gets a little easier each time.

I am posting this review mostly as a public service, to let prospective customers know just how enormous this product it.
The maximum diameter (largest bulb) is 2.35 inches, with a total length of 5.65 inches. It's too big for me. I have barely managed to accommodate the Severin Medium Anal Plug, which is 1.85 inches at its largest point. No one should even consider this large sized plug unless they can comfortably and reliably accommodate the medium one. The larger Tantus plugs are pricey, but they are of high quality. The "platinum" silicone material is mirror-smooth and easy to clean, which is a plus. Lubrication must always be used, and patience is needed -- especially with something this big. Insertion must never be forced -- it should never be painful. Something this big would definitely take some serious working-up-to.

This PLUG is for SERIOUS people. Do not buy this until you seriously look to see actually how wide this truly is. If I were a daring man, I would take another look at this. I have the medium sized one and the increased ripples are wonderful. It is a bit of work to use the medium one. The large one would definetly be for the brave or experienced!
Either one you choose you will love the Tantus line of playthings. Happy anal travels!

I love this toy!
I love the silicone material. I love the size. I have my man in the front and this in the back and I always end up on cloud 9! I also use it on him and he loves it also. The big O is always intensified for both of us when this is included.

large: quite large,
By Charles (Paris, France) - See all my reviews

Most people when reading those reviews, wonder two things:
- Is it really large? - Can I take it? My experience Before I bought mine (large size), I read horror reviews, of people who couldn't get even the medium in, people who'd received the "large" and sent it back, scared off by the size. You know what I did? Take the plug I normally use (and of which I wasn't entirely satisfied, otherwise I wouldn't buy a new one), and measure it. I can take the Godebuster (large) without flinching, in a few seconds. It requires me no work at all. (The large godebuster is at its thickest point as large as the largest bulb on the severin medium, I measured). Therefore, the severin medium would have been of no use to me. So i bought Sev. large. I got it, was rather impressed by the size, then tried to work it in. Well people, there's a mouthful (so to speak...). I got it in the first time I tried, after about 15 minutes of trying, but it hurt and I took it out. Worked it in again, then out. For a first try I guess that's ok, but I didn't really enjoy it immediately. This said, I'm farily confident that in a few weeks, I'll be able to pop it in without too much effort and hurt. The idea I think is not to force yourself too much thinking, like other plugs "once it pops it, the discomfort will disappear" - this is not the case. The hurt immediately stops, but it feels uncomfortable, because it's just very, very big, and I feel maybe the neck isn't quite long enough, but that's on a first impression (and why I don't give it 5 stars). It's a reward you've got to work for! Objectively I read "this is for ultra advanced anal-players only!!!!" all the time, making you feel like if you can't take a fist in a wink, you won't be able to take the severin large. I'm sorry but that just isn't true - a truly "advanced anal player" would probably be bored with that plug. It's a plug for people who HAVE had a few anal experiences before (certainly not beginners) but who are not "experts" and wish to take on a challenge. I bought my first plug (the godebuster large) two months ago only - so I'm definitely not an "advanced user"...

so we got all 3 of these a while back. i love them all. my girlfriend likes the small one. nothing beats the feeling of the big bump going in and out. the medium one was big when i started, the large one is huge, but when i get it in i am incapable of coherent speech. its amazing. i can't really say anything bad about the products. they're my absolute favorite toys.

Not As Secure As One Would Like It To Be,

This review is from: Tantus Severin Small Anal Plug, Black (Health and Beauty)
This unit, like other Tantus products, is well-made of "platinum" silicone -- a substance that is resilient, comfortable, and easy to clean. It stands 4-1/2" high (just under 4" insertable), with the larger bulb measuring 1-1/2". This is a reasonable insertion size for someone with moderate experience.
My main complaint is that unlike the classic anal plugs, such as the well known Doc Johnson Anal Plug White Medium, this one cannot be depended on to stay in place. The problem seems to be that the shank between the large bulb and the base is too large in diameter compared to the diameter of the large bulb. Thus, there is not enough of a threshold to keep this inserted reliably. The length of the shank is a plus in this regard, but it's not enough. While this unit will stay in for a time, it's not hard to expel it without intending to. It does not require constant attention to stay in, as some of the other Tantus models do, but unless the user remains in a sitting position, the risk of unintentional ejection is constant. This unit also creates some needless discomfort because the ends of the base flare out slightly. The resulting pointed ends tend to dig in to sensitive flesh. In practice, because this unit does not seem reliable for long-term wear, the flared base may not be a problem, because the user may not have it in place long enough for significant discomfort to develop. For a reliable plug that won't pop out unexpectedly, there are better choices -- such as the Doc Johnson model mentioned above, or the Tantus Ryder Anal Plug, Midnight Purple from this manufacturer.

I have always loved the design of the Tantus line of products. This anal plug take a little bit of presuation to get in but the wait is well worth it. The slim design is great. This is my first plug. The increased sized steps are a great build up to feeling it take home of where it will reside. YUMMY!
