4.0 out of 5 stars Love's Old Country Music, September 8, 2011
This review is from: Tanya Tucker - Greatest Hits (Capitol) (Audio CD)
This Greatest Hits of Tanya's mid-late 80's music is good. But there is at least one song miss from this Greatest Hits CD and that is the song "Call On Me." But over all this is a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Greatest Hits CD from the late 80's.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kimble Jury: Review Tanya Tucker Greatest Hits, March 25, 2009

I was initially drawn to this album as a result of hearing Tanya singing "San Antonio Stroll". The music is jaunty and fast and, although I have heard of this dance I had never seen it performed. I used to be a ball room dancing teacher and so I am interested in many forms of dance. The music on Tanya's album provided me with a clue to the style of dance and for those who may be interested, here in Australia we call it a "Gypsy Tap". The rest of the album was also a true pleasure to listen to. The music wasn't hurried, the mix seemed balanced and Tanya's voice came over strongly. Too often recording Engineers tend to over spread the music, especially when there are session musicians, such that what appeals to Country fans is brought more to the front simply because it may sell more records. For instance a Steel Guitar strumming in "sad" or mournful tones will be prominent and Country fans will home in on this sound as the reason to get the album. I would still rate "Stroll" as the best on the album though.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Songs from the Greatest Female Country Singer Ever, August 29, 2000

I have always been puzzled as to why of the five official Tanya Tucker Greatest Hits Albums, this one appears to lag behind the others in sales figures. These are all HUGE hits from her MCA days after leaving Columbia. The albums on which they are found were all big sellers for country music at the time. There are some really great songs on here everyone. Here's Some Love opens the set. It was a the title track from her very first #1 Country Album. There is a pop influence to several of the songs here but with Tanya it is always country. One of my favorite Tucker songs is the second cut, Ridin' Rainbows. Who could forget San Antonio Stroll, Don't Believe My Heart Can Stand Another You and the wonderful Dave Loggins penned You've Got Me To Hold Onto. The CD also includes the biggest pop crossover single of her career the PHENOMENAL Lizzie And The Rainman.. one of the greatest country songs ever laid down. Short Cut is wonderful, and one of the many hidden jewels on Tanya's 30 albums. It was actually released as a single in Japan at the time. In closing this is a HOT collection and well worth the price.
THIS REVIEW DOES NOT BELONG UNDER THIS GREATEST HITS COLLECTION. MY REVIEW HERE IS FOR HER MCA HITS..NOT HER COLUMBIA ONES.

5.0 out of 5 stars One Of The Best, July 29, 2007

This review is from: Tanya Tucker - Greatest Hits (Capitol) (Audio CD)
This greatest hits package from one of country music's superstars, Tanya Tucker, is one of the best. From the opening song "Daddy And Home" to the closing song "It's Only Over For You" are gems. "Daddy And Home is about how much she misses her home and her family. "Love Me Like You Used To" tells about the love that her man has for her has faded. "I Won't Take Less Than Your Love" is very good collaberation with Paul Overstreet and Paul Davis and has been my personal favorite from the first time I heard it. Other classics include "One Love At A Time", "My Arms Stay Open All Night", "Strong Enough To Bend", "Just Another Love", and "If It Don't Come Easy." A great CD for any Tanya Tucker Fan. You will not be disapointed in any way with this in your collection.
