Book Description

February 7, 2000
The Tao of God restates the Chinese philosopher Lao Tsu's Tao Te Ching using insights from a contemporary revelatory work called The Urantia Book. In verse, it expresses a philosophy of living that harmonizes logic and intuition, science and religion, Eastern thought and Western thought, existence and non-existence, the material and the spiritual, action and non-action, peace and conflict, stillness and movement, and light and darkness. The Tao of God is an embellishment to the original Tao Te Ching, adding 20 extra chapters to present the idea that spiritual insight is infinite.

About the Author

Richard S. Omura says that he has found life both confusing and enlightening: confusing in his youth, enlightening in his adulthood. A dedicated seeker of truth and a strong proponent of self-development, he is a well-rounded generalist with a variety of experiences. Among other things, he has worked as a disc jockey, copywriter, tour guide, nightclub manager, and interpreter. Presently, he is a photographer, a television production coordinator, a poet, a screenwriter and a novelist. The full spectrum of his interests range from the physical to the mindal and to the spiritual: from surfing, playing blues harmonica, photography, writing screenplays and novels to holding spiritual seminars and gatherings. Being a seeker, he is constantly on the lookout for fresh new ideas and experiences. He has also written five screenplays, a book of poetry, a novel, and a manual on katsugen, a Japanese self-healing technique. He now resides in Los Angeles.

This review is from: The Tao of God: A Restatement Based on The Urantia Book (Paperback)
If you like the message of Taoism ("man's eternal destiny is everlasting union with Tao, Supreme God and Universal King"), and can accept the possibility of current revelation as presented in the Urantia Book, then you will like this book, a mixture of Eastern spiritual thought and current revelatory insight, crafted by a master storyteller and poet, Richard Omura. Easy reading and to the point, Richard takes Lao-tse's original 81 chapters, embellishes them, and adds twenty additional chapters to present poetic enlightenment for seekers of all faiths. From today to eternity, the rules will not change, as we traverse the myriad experiences in a journey that will ultimately lead us back to our Creator, the First Source and Center, to Tao. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. My hat is off to Mr. Omura for this fine work.
