I only got a few chapters in and could go no further. I am a new mother and love and lucky enough to spend nearly every waking hour with my baby. It is easy to see why she only has one child. She seems to have a totally warped, painful sense of parenthood, it is kind of sad. She mainly talks about herself. The cover portrays that one may find silly, funny, or realistic antidotes about parenting of little ones, this is not what is in the book. It is pretty much the parable of the burning bush of parenthood, beware.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great support for the journey, April 12, 2006
By
This review is from: The Tao of Poop: Keeping Your Sanity (and Your Soul) While Raising a Baby (Hardcover)
This book is comforting, enlightening and at times utterly hillarious. I found myself reaching for it like I used to reach for an after work drink with friends. Vivian offers guidance and much needed reality checks on the topics we stress over the most. Down to earth and easy, this is a great gift book for any pregnant or new mom you know.

I am loving your book! I have been reading it whenever I can (my
marathon nursing sessions seem to be the ideal time!) You write so well what it's *really* like. Thank you for your honesty. And I truly relate to so much of what you share as a fellow writer. A terrific book that's easy to pick up and read in spurts, which face it, is about all new moms and dads have during the early weeks and months!

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-have for any mom, April 6, 2006
This review is from: The Tao of Poop: Keeping Your Sanity (and Your Soul) While Raising a Baby (Hardcover)
Finally -- a woman who is honest about motherhood. I laughed and I cried as I read this real life account of raising children. When I had my first child, I felt that no one was being frank about the joys and the heartaches that go along with this journey. Reading Glyck's book was like talking with the confidante I always yearned for. This will be the one and only, must-have baby shower gift for my friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it, June 28, 2008
Personally I love this book. It is a quick read and funny, but somehow manages some wonderful, insightful self-help and parenting tips. For those of us who feel a little overwhelmed by the reality of parenthood, a must-read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Refreshing, May 25, 2007
This review is from: The Tao of Poop: Keeping Your Sanity (and Your Soul) While Raising a Baby (Hardcover)
I Love this book, it is funny and insightful. It will give you a new outlook on your daily "mommy" activities. It is easy to read and offers a realistic view rather than "super mom" partenting.

Thank you Vivian for sharing your thoughts and experiences. This is a wonderful, quick read for mothers everywhere. The pages ooze with the honesty mothers need to hear in order to validate personal, at times confusing, feelings regarding a role that our society tends to romanticize.
