Next thing you know, I'll be loving chihuahuas...,

This review is from: The Tao of Pug (Hardcover)
I used to think pugs were silly little dogs. And ugly, too. But now, after reading the Tao of Pug, and seeing all those adorable pictures of Wilson, I must say I've had a change of heart. Just don't tell my golden retriever...

No pug lover should be without this book!,
By Roxane R. Fritz (Sacramento, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Tao of Pug (Hardcover)
Nancy Levine has captured both the heart and soul of pugs everywhere with her wonderful photos of Wilson. This is a book that will not languish on your bookshelf after one reading, but will be enjoyed over and over again. The clever and sometimes profound (for a pug anyway) philosophy of Wilson will bring a smile to your face and stay with you long after you have finished the book. This is a perfect gift for the pug owner you need a present for, or for yourself if you are owned by a pug.

If you love pugs, you'll love this book! Neither dogmatic nor pugnacious, the philosophy is simple and elegant, and the photos are fun and beautifully shot. Recommended to all.

Every child should have a Dog,
By James Sander (plano, tx) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Tao of Pug (Hardcover)
I could say so much about ths book such as it is great for any dog owner, a MUST READ for pug dog owners, or that it blends Taoism and dog ownership so wonderfully, but in the end it is all about what it means to own a dog, it is such a special arrangement between human and animal and how we learn from each other. I learn everyday from my Pug Dog, how to relax, how to view the world from his eyes, how to play, how to get excited when meeting people, how not to take the world so serious, my pug dog learns from us about eating, entertaining, and reading books at night to the kids. Thanks to Nancy for reminding us about the special bond we have with our pets and especially for us Pug dog owners who feel the Pug is the best pet in the world. I now get my children to understand Taoism in their own way since they love their pug so much and enjoy seeing others enjoy their Pug as the pictures show with Wilson. Wilson is their favorite name now for our next Pug dog.

Powerfully Hilarious and Inspiring!,

This review is from: The Tao of Pug (Hardcover)
The Tao of Pug had me laughing and simulataneously being reminded of the rules of simplicity in life which are so essential to inner peace. There is a Tao lesson at the top of each page, then an incredibly creative and clear picture in the middle of the page, and the caption of Wilson the Pug's actions/thoughts based on the Taoist philosophy as stated at the top of the page. The Tao messages utilized in the book are well-picked; the pictures throughout the book are ever so creative and are of excellent resolution; the captions are hilarious and thought-provoking. I highly recommend this book for all - pug owner or not! An exceptionally enjoyable book!

I too am a pug owner, 2 of them in fact. This book is great and the pictures of course are the centrepiece. How often have I seen my own pugs in the situations that you will find Wilson. Wilson of course, verbalises the wisdom that all pugs share. This is a must own for dog lovers period!

A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Tao of Pug (Hardcover)
My mom gave me this book for my birthday. I'm 11 and I love it. I read it over and over. Wilson is really cute and I feel like I know him and like he's talking right to me. I brought this book with me to school one day and all my friends loved Wilson too. They asked their parents if they could get the book. Now some of us are starting a Wilson club. I love how Wilson makes his Tao ideas really fun.

A Treasure,
By SusieQ (HI) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Tao of Pug (Hardcover)
The Tao of Pug is a wonderful book. I had never noticed the similarity between pug behavior and Taoism before. Taoists believe that people are good by nature, and that one should be kind to others simply because such treatment will probably be reciprocated. Pugs are naturally friendly and trusting. Taoism is focused on nature. Pugs happen to be very fascinated with nature (mostly by the parts of nature that are edible). Taoists seek answers to life's problems through inner meditation and outer observation. Have you ever seen the quizical look of a pug? This is a fun approach to both Tao and the Pug!

Wilson rocks!,
By Janice L. Decker (Charleston, SC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Tao of Pug (Hardcover)
Tons of books about cute dogs with cute doggie pix can overwhelm a dog lover. What cuts Wilson's book out of the herd is its sweetness and Wilson's tart observations. It's a sweet-tart of a book! A perfect gift for all friends of animals and for those who appreciate hard-won wisdom. A great design doesn't hurt either. Long live Wilson and his great wisdom! Arf!
