4.0 out of 5 stars "turn ordinary guys into charismatic Steve McQueens", July 29, 2000
This review is from: The Tao of Steve: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
Milan Records presents this unique comedy soundtrack featuring composer Joe Delia for the film score. Delia composed, orchestrated, recorded and mixed the entire score which, like the film, ranges from comedic to romantic...and everything in between.

Besides the Delia score we have various artists featured - "(I JUST WANNA BE)YOUR STEVE MCQUEEN" (Eytan Mirsky) - "OUTDOOR TYPE" (The Lemonheads) - "PEANUT BUTTER" (The Marathons) - "MOVIE STAR" (Total Stereo) - "YOU'RE SO 1988" (Epperley) - "MARTINI FIVE-O" (The Blue Hawaiians). All of this seems to fall in place as you enjoy this fun filled album.

This unique comedy was selected for the 2000 Sundance Film Festival where Donal Logue won the Special Jury Prize for his performance as Dex in this film.

Total Time: 36:41 on 18 Tracks/ Milan Records - 73138 35912 2 (2000)

Hi, people. I hope you enjoyed the film "The Tao of Steve" and my songs in it. Two of my tunes "The Tao of Steve (Isn't it Time?)" and "(I Just Wanna Be) Your Steve McQueen" are included on the soundtrack album so buy it as soon as possible. But why stop there? If you like my songs, there's no reason you wouldn't like my own album, "Get Ready for Eytan!" also available here on amazon.com. (You can even go hear clips at www.theorchard.com if you're interested.) Anyway, give it some serious thought. Bye!

P.S. You people might be interested to know that I also wrote the title song for the Todd Solondz film "Happiness, " which was sung by some guy named Michael Stipe.

5.0 out of 5 stars The perfect album for Steves!, September 8, 2000
By
This review is from: The Tao of Steve: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
So...I'm sitting there during the end credits of the delightful and funny film "The Tao of Steve," reading the song credits and waiting for it to say "Soundtrack album available on Milan Records." To my great disappointment it didn't. Frustrating! Could the quirky and fun music I'd heard during my favorite film so far of 2000 not be available?

Well, gladly it is! Just as women found Dex irresistible, I find the bouncy and upbeat original sounds by Eytan Mirsky hard to resist, as well as Joe Delia's Santa Fe-flavored score and songs by the Lemonheads, Epperly, Stereo Total, and the classic and infectiously danceable (especially if you know kindergartners!) "Peanut Butter" by the Marathons. And how can you not like a soundtrack album that features not only the themes to "The Six Million Dollar Man" and "Hawaii Five-Oh" but also the Hawaiian-tinged cover version "Martini Five-Oh" (cocktail party music extraordinaire!)

See the movie, buy the CD, pre-order the DVD. Get your friends over for a BBQ, play some Frisbee golf and blast this over the back yard. In a similar venue, Dex would have women swarming around him in minutes; the rest of us mere mortals will just have to be content with a fun album and great songs.

5.0 out of 5 stars great sound track, September 4, 2006

I like this sound track b/c it introduces you to some new music from obscure artists. There is a nice variety yet nothing on here is that weird or far from teh beaten path.

It features Eytan Mirsky who is kind of like a "Richard Thompson" lite" He sings a lot about relationships going bad and the difficulty in dating.

Also "Superman", "The Outdoor Type" "Movie Star' and "Your so 1988" are cool, hip songs.

The movie was fun but the soundtrack is even better.

If you like this then try Eytan Mirsky's work. He is good.

Great soundtrack, but customers should be aware that this is currently a CD-R duplicate of the original disc, with a CD booklet and insert reproduced from a scan. The bar code says, "Manufactured by Amazon.com". On the one hand, you can get an out-of-print disc. On the other hand, you are NOT getting an actual original CD. CD-Rs don't play on old equipment, and they can degrade in a few years. It would be nice if Amazon indicated that they were selling a home-made reproduction of the original disc. I recommend saving a few bucks by buying the MP3 version, and burning your own CD-R.
