Book Description

Square One Classics January 2003
A fundamental book of the Taoist, the Tao Te Ching is regarded as a revelation in its own right. It provides a wealth of wisdom and insights for those seeking a better understanding of themselves. Over time, many changes have been made to the original Chinese text. Researcher Patrick M. Byrne has produced a translation that is accurate and easy to
understand, while capturing the pattern and harmony of the original.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exquisite, November 30, 2004
This review is from: Tao Te Ching: The Way of Virtue (Paperback)
Tao Te Ching, The Way of Virtue, Lao Tzu, translation and commentary by Patrick M. Byrne, 2002. Square One Publishers, Garden City Park, NY. Patrick M. Byrne was not sure what he could add to the immense body of work that has already been written from and about the Tao Te Ching but he knew this translation was something he was called to do. What has emerged is an exquisite, slim volume that allows us to read Lao Tzu's teachings with the original rhythm and flow of the Old Master's poetic presentation. Byrne writes beautiful and clear commentaries with alternate translations noted after the chapters rather than within the translation. This is a version of the Tao Te Ching that would be wonderful for and is relevant for those at a point of discernment regarding quiet but passionate service to our world.
