Update: I just found out in a comment from a customer that an AC USB wall charger is no longer included with this product. You can use the charging cable to charge the device with your computer's USB port or any AC USB wall charger that you own.

It is important for you to note that this device only transmits audio via Bluetooth and it is not a Bluetooth receiver.

The transmitter comes with a 48 inch long charging cable that you can use to charge it with using your computer's USB port or the USB AC wall charger that comes with the unit. One end of the cable is a standard USB jack and the other is a Mini USB jack. The AC wall charger is rated at 100 to 240 VAC and 50/60 Hz. Its output is 5 VDC at 500 mA. The transmitter weighs ½ of an ounce.

The transmitter has a 3.5 mm stereo jack that can plug into the headphone jacks of a non-Bluetooth device. I used the transmitter that way to convert my Kindle Fire into a Bluetooth compatible tablet. I show this in my video. The transmitter will not work with a monaural output or with one that needs to take and receive phone calls. On the front face is a multifunction on/off button that is also used to pair the transmitter with your Bluetooth receiver. There is also a charging port on the top and when you plug in the charging cable the LED on the unit turns red and indicates that the device is charging. When the unit is charged the LED turns off. It is recommended to charge the unit the first time for 4 hours to make sure that it is fully charged.

In the video I show how to pair the transmitter with a Bluetooth remote speaker and the process was simple and easy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little transmitter January 10, 2012
Verified Purchase
I was hesitant to buy this after reading a few of the negative reviews that mentioned a major audio delay. Still, it was the cheapest, decently reviewed solution for my needs. After having the product for about 2 weeks, I can say I'm very happy that I bought it. I use this, in conjunction with the Samsung Modus 3500 HM3500 Premium Noise Cancelling Dual Mono Stereo Bluetooth Headset with 2 Adapters to play games and watch TV without waking up my kids. That includes playing games like Rock Band and Dance Central. With regular games, Dance Central, and TV, I haven't noticed any delay. The delay is noticeable with Rock Band, but it isn't anything that the game can't compensate for. According to the auto calibration, the delay varies between +160 and +200 ms.

In addition to the negligible delay, the battery life is fantastic. It lasts through at least two charges of the headphones (about 8 hours total), and it can still operate while charging. I haven't noticed any degradation in sound quality, either. This is everything I needed it to be, and at a reasonable cost.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works Perfectly August 19, 2012

TaoTronics and SunValleyTek are all Gentlemen and Scholars for this excellent product and at a good price!

I just tested these transmitters with all 3 of my TV's and with both my Creative D100 and D200 speakers and whatever video/audio delay there is its ever so slight its not even worth mentioning. I'm very impressed with how these work. I have an Altec-Lansing/Plantronics dongle and the performance is the same as with the TaoTronics. The only way I could tell there was any kind of a very slight audio delay was to play the audio from the TV itself at the same time and then you could see the audio was dead on with the TV speakers and just a slight delay from the Bluetooth. Had I not done that it was difficult to tell if there really was any delay. That's how close it is. I'm very pleased with this, especially for the cost of 20 bones. It paired perfectly with my Creative D100 and D200 Bluetooth speakers while they were plugged into my TV's and my Chinese iPod Nano clone. The pairing button and blue/red lights are awesome. The quality of the audio is just fine. My wishlist? Instead of the skinny wire, have the stereo plug attached directly to the unit itself and flip out. Oh yeah!

UPDATE: I decided to make comparison with these and my Plantronics/Altec Lansing Bluetooth dongle that came with my Plantronics BackBeat 903 stereo headset. Ever since I got this Plantronics dongle I've wanted to get another one but they don't sell them separately and if you can find them ever they're absurdly priced. Glad I never got another because these TaoTronics blow them away! The sound through my BackBeat headset is just as good but the volume now goes up about another 30% compared to the Plantronics/Altec Lansing Bluetooth dongle! The volume is also louder on my Creative D100 and D200! These Tao's rock big time!!! Oh yeeeeah!

2.0 out of 5 stars Lag makes it almost useless November 13, 2011
Verified Purchase
I can't rate it 1 star, because it does work, but I bought it to use with my TV and there is a serious lag against the video, so it can't be used for anything but music. I tried it connected to my TV and directly connected to my PS3 audio outputs and with several receivers, but the result was the same. I'm very disappointed it didn't work as expected and would recommend against it for anything other than music.

5.0 out of 5 stars No lag, Works while charging, great with Kindle February 4, 2012
Verified Purchase
I haven't had the transmitter for long, but here is what I have noted so far:
1. Works great with the Kindle in Text to Speech mode.
2. Works great with Kindle Fire playing a show on Hulu+.
3. No lag with the Kindle Fire while watching shows on Hulu+ (I imagine buffering and connections could change this, but works great for me).
4. Works while plugged in and charging (saw in another review that they read it didn't so I tested it).
Only problem I have is half my household is threatening to swipe mine if I don't get them one of these.

Is there a max number of headphones that can be used?
I have the same question. I need at least two devices paired at the same time.

Pairing to car
This is not a receiver. In the market 95% of what's out there is a receiver, 5% transmitters. This is the latter. This will not power an external speaker. It will take something old that has a headphone jack and make it into a Bluetooth sending device.

I can't get the TaoTronics® TT-BA01 Wireless Portable Bluetooth Stereo...
I have the same problem when using it to transmit from an AV Receiver. It may have to do with the bluetooth version of the headphones. My nice headphones are version 4.0 and it doesn't seem to pair. However, I have a cheap in-ear pair that is bluetooth version 2.0 and it pairs with those no... Read More

Can power be hardwired
I just recently purchased one of these jewels and the manual states they have been updated to allow operation while charging. I have tested it and it continues to operate while charging. Maybe there is an upgrade or something available from manufacturer for older models.
