The TaoTronics is not only for different versions of the iPad, but is also suitable for other 5 - 10" tablets. Assembly was quick and easy, but before you even attempt to place your iPad or other device into the holder there are a couple of things you need to make sure are secure. The first one is when you go to place your holder/bracket onto the adjustable gooseneck piece, you need to make sure you hear that SNAP. Depending on which way, right or left, you are inserting the bracket you'll definitely hear it snap into place. If you don't hear it and it wobbles in any way, you haven't inserted it properly. Secondly, when you install the stem to the base with the bolt, use pliers to hold the bolt and twist the stem until it is secure. Once again, there should be not wobble at all. If you aren't careful and don't set up the stand properly, you probably will run into problems.

Once I had everything assembled, which was within a few minutes, I placed a corner of my iPad in the nonadjustable side of the holder/bracket and then slid and clamped the diagonal corner. Once I had it adjusted and clamped it didn't move. Underneath the bracket is all-around cushioning to prevent scratching. I have the TaoTronics Desktop Clamp Mount Holder, which I like very much, but it doesn't have as much cushioning underneath the bracket. The added cushioning does make it easier to mount and secure a tablet. The stand itself is very heavy and once I inserted my iPad there was no motion.

This is an excellent stand and was well-balanced once I had my iPad in in. I could adjust it either to view it in landscape or portrait modes. As in the case of the desktop mount, keep in mind that because of the gooseneck adjustment, this stand was probably not meant for fast, continual changes. When I wanted to move from one screen to another, I simply held one corner of my iPad. I have set up this unit next to a bed and created a very simple video to show how I'm using it. Naturally, one can find many uses for this stand. I definitely love the hands-free aspect this stand affords.

What a fun product! I love my iPad and searched for quite a while for a product like this!

The product itself is VERY sturdy! I was surprised at how heavy the base is. The entire unit feels solid and I am comfortable putting my iPad on it. The iPad holder itself is slightly "big" for the iPad 2. I am still comfortable putting my iPad on it as it comes in snug around the iPad but the actual thickness of the corners seems to be big enough for other products to fit. (I'm not sure if that makes sense- think of it like this- the X of the holder is adjustable so it can come in nice and snug around the iPad. However, the padded "clips" that come up and around the front of the iPad are deeper than they would need to be for the iPad 2 and 3.) Again, this product was made to be used for other items as well (and the X portion is adjustable so I think it would fit many things). The "clips" are 1 inch thick on the outside and just over 1.5 centimeters on the inside due to the padding.

Putting the stand together is pretty common sense which is good because the instructions are a little lacking.(i.e. the first sentence is "Floor stand for pad is a kind of holder which mainly for the purpose of making people to use their Pad more conveniently and flexibly." The actual instructions are just pictures. Again- don't let this deter you as putting it together is common sense.

At first I was concerned that the adjustable portion of the stand was "weak", in that when I extended it, it would slide back down. There is an "L" tool included however that allows you to tighten the plastic around the extender. Problem fixed :) (The instructions don't include a picture of this).

MEASUREMENTS-
The base is 5 inches deep and 11 inches wide.
The first section of the stand is 16 inches. The extender gives you another 14 inches.
The bendable section is 24 inches- 18 of which is bendable.
If the unit was measured straight from floor up it would be 59-60 inches tall.

I was skeptical considering the price and stock pictures. I purchased this because I needed a good stand for my iPad when I'm writing or using it as a screen when on the bike trainer. Putting the item together took about two minutes without looking at the directions. The stand is tall overall and in the low position is good for when I'm sitting in my chair or laying in bed. At the highest position the screen is nearly neck level on me and I'm 6'6". I keep my iPad in the Otterbox Defender case, which is a little thick and I worried if the universal joints were big enough to hold the case. It holds, but barely. It is close but it is working fine right now. The iPad itself or in a different case like Ballistic would fit just fine.
I would recommend this and would buy it again.
