I'm a native New Mexican. I love New Mexican food from one end of the state to the other. So I was hoping this book might just have some good recipes in it. If you want unusual and sometimes good food, this book is fine. (Pesto Linguini and Salmon Ricotta Ravioli with Walnut Cream Sauce for example)
If you want real New Mexican cooking, you'll not find many recipes in this book that meet that expectation. Look elsewhere. The Chile Rellenos recipe calls for MILK and CHEDDAR CHEESE and another relleno recipe has red chiles and beef inside the peppers. There is an enchilada recipe using CANNED chiles!!!! The green chile stew recipe called for ground pork and ground beef and tobasco sauce. Huh? I should have looked up the authors' bios first to see what their focus might be.

Although not the classic food fair in new mexico for the serious cook and native to new mexico, it is a good cook book. Easy recipes to make. Good purchase.
