Doesn't make me yearn to put on my tap shoes,
By A Customer
This review is from: Tap Dancing: Beginners [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Although the tape provides a good introduction, its production values are not particularly appealing. It was much shorter (30 minutes compared to 90 minutes) than another tap dancing tape I purchased, and taught fewer routines. It also went on too long on basic steps. It features a dance demonstrator with an off-camera teacher's voice--a less attractive teaching method, I think.

A Tape For Real Beginners,
By Lisa M. Cardwell (West Plains, MO USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tap Dancing: Beginners [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I chose this tape precisely because of the slow pace and repetition. While it is only about 30 min, it is enough to get started. I took a university beginning tap class that, sadly, I did not discover was for dancers until too late. It was too fast. Mr. Le Tang offers a pace that is manageable for a real beginner.

Tap Dancing for Beginners,
By A. Dugan (Edmonton, AB Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tap Dancing: Beginners [VHS] (VHS Tape)
If you are really a beginner, then after working with this tape for an hour or so, you will be able to show off a few great steps. It is easy to follow - but still challenging for the beginner. AND the dancer on the tape has great light blue tap shoes.

Beautiful dancer, please turn around.......,
By A Customer
This review is from: Tap Dancing: Beginners [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Because the dancer is facing the audience, the learner is always on the wrong foot or struggling to dance opposite her. Additionally the tape is too short for the money. Mr. Le Tang's instruction, however, is quite clear and the dancer is a joy to watch, if all you want to do is watch.

Almost 50 and might be able to dance,
By A Customer
This review is from: Tap Dancing: Beginners [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I was so excited to get a tap video ... I had never tapped danced before, but I still found the tape helpful. I had to stop and practice on my own and then played the tape again in order to catch on. I still enjoy getting the basic steps down from the video. I have one more tap video ordered and anxious to compare.

Waste of Time,
By A Customer
This review is from: Tap Dancing: Beginners [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This very short video (30 minutes at most) does little to teach you about tap dancing. There's no description of the steps, so you don't know what it is you're learning. You're taught a routine, but nothing that will help you go on from there. The demonstrator dancer is either facing you or you see her from the side, which makes it very difficult to follow her. All in all, not worth the time or money.

Fun Tap Video,
This review is from: Tap Dancing: Beginners [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This tap dance video teaches you some basic steps that when put together make a nice, little routine. It's only 30 minutes long and a nice workout. I personally thought it was fun to do and as one person already commented, her light blue tap shoes really are cool! This tape is short, basic and easy with uncomplicated tap steps! Very nice for beginners!

What I think,

Just what I wanted. One number, 4 steps and a break, running time about 25 minutes. I think it will take me 18-24 months to master this!
