WOW THIS ALBUM ROCKS!!!!! I saw this band in 1989 and they blew my doors off. The album is a fine example the live feel from the show. From start to finish, catchy songs, hard playing and more guitar hooks than 100 other punk bands could ever produce. Tops in the pop punk style, I wish more pop punk bands could put out an effort as great as this one. Many have tried many have failed. Big Drill Car beat Green Day to the punch, and delivered the K.O.

5.0 out of 5 stars A REAL un-discovered classic!!, January 8, 2002

And I mean that!!
If you're a fan of late 80s early 90s sub-pop/Nirvana guitars and hooks I plead with you to buy this cd.
Great, great catchy 3minute songs, the pick of the crop being "16 Lines", "Clamato #11" and the wonderfull "In Green Fields".
Sadly the bands future releases never reached the hights of this release, so go on treat youself

4.0 out of 5 stars Totally underrated and overlooked., July 7, 2001

BDC would have been millionaires had they surfaced in the Lollapalooza era. Five years ahead of their time, these guys were cranking out the pop/punk/metal before all that stuff you hear on the radio these days. In the tradition of 80's SO-CAL acts like Descendents/ALL, Big Drill Car was making it happen before it was cool. Some senseless lyrics and burmuda shorts (hey, it was '89!) might turn some off, but emo gems like Diamond Earrings and No Need alone justify purchase of this album. If you love long-haired punk rock a la SST, go for it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome CD, June 23, 2000

I owned Tape Type thing, same album, just on cassette, the music is very poppy, and uplifting, and the band is nice and tight. I'd recommend this if you like bands like the Descendents etc..

Big Drill Car...let's see I was in 8th grade living in Europe on my way to school on the Bus..this kid from the states got on played this tape,,and I was like...HOLY ....this tape rules!!! I find out who they were, and that was that. I went through college wondering how to get a copy, went on vaction to the states..and every store I asked...looked at me like I was some lost european, looking for a hardware store...whatever. These guys are the fathers of SKate/Surf/Underground Cali Rock..and no one knows...They deserve to be in the spotlight by VH1 or MTV2..all these new bands like SUM 41, and whatever bores us to death on the radio need to sit back and pay respect to these guys...In all my life listening to music...Big Drill Car made it on a school bus in europe, and left a lasting impression on me forever. I can only say that...these guys rule and will always rule, whatever people don't know about them...it's probably better, I would hate to see some radical mullet wearing freak rockin' out to Big drill Car in HIs Toyota pick up acting like he knew them all along....Big Drill Car and Amazon.com Thank YOu....Rock N Roll Forever!!!!

I was nearly 10 years old when this album was released. I had it on record and lost it a few years ago. Or maybe I think it's Small Block i'm not sure, I'll have to find them in my attic.
