Book Description

June 25, 2004
In the late 1970s, a young woman was dying of cancer and soon abandoned by her husband, leaving her with three small children. To the amazement of doctors, Laurel Lee survived the cancer, and a small hospital journal was sent to a New York publisher by one of her physicians. The book became a best seller, and CBS made a movie of it (called Walking Through the Fire). Laurel s story telling is like none other we have ever seen. You will be whisked away into a world that is brought to life with every sentence she writes. A great book for those who are looking for hope and grace in the midst of suffering.

From the Publisher

In the 1970s, Laurel Lee gave us Walking Through the Fire, an enchanting hospital journal of her battle against Hodgkin’s Disease. In the 1980s her Signs of Spring, Mourning Into Dancing and Godspeed were published.

Nearly a half million copies of these books were sold in the United States and throughout fifty other countries.

Laurel’s popularity as both a writer and a speaker propelled her into world-wide travel, adventure and challenge.

Now, this eloquent and captivating author brings us Tapestry: The Journey of Laurel Lee. Tapestry is entire life of this rags to riches Cinderella of literature. The book contains over sixty photos of Laurel and her children and over ninety drawings done by her. It is a hard-to-put-down book and will captivate both those who have followed

Laurel through the years and those who are just now introduced to her.

(Special Note: Laurel survived cancer twice as a young woman. On August 10th, 2004, Laurel Lee passed away after having fought a long hard battle against Pancreatic Cancer. She was 58 years old.)

Never have I read a book that drew me into the life of the author like air filling a vacuum. The beauty of living a life that is brimming with joy and pathos challenged my every emotion. Not only do I recommend this book that is written in journalistic formet, if it were my perogative I would purchase it for the world. This book makes you want to squeeze every ounce out of life and hold it in your heart, it makes you appreciate the immensity of the universe yet lets you look into the eyes of a tiny child and cherish both. Once I stepped into the life of Laural Lee, I could not leave the exit door was closed. Your life will be challenged to live each and every moment with feeling!!

Laurel Lee was a true 60's seeker. Her unwavering faith sustained her through illness and heartbreak. Never giving self pity a chance, Laurel faced what would break the strongest among us, with good humor and a sense of adventure. Keep the tissues handy and let this book inspire and move you.
