Have a good toolbox handy. It takes two different size screwdrivers to remove the spider and the remote from the backing cardboard (they are screwed in place, not zip-tied). A Third screwdriver size is needed to open the battery box. The toy sheds hair like mad, leaving a gray coating wherever you play.

The spider doesn't walk. It rolls on two very tiny wheels underneath while the legs twitch spazmatically. The wheels are very small, less than 1/4 in diameter so the speed is very slow. A waste.

As other reviewers noted, you have to unscrew the tarantula and the remote from the cardboard packaging to even get them out of the box. Then the aggravation really begins - the screw in the spider is very deeply and tightly set and takes forever to get out. The remote housing is flimsy and you could actually break it just replacing the battery. Controls are limited to backward/forwards and since it rolls on wheels instead of walking on its legs I imagine the motion is nowhere near as life-like as advertised - I wouldn't know, however, since ours didn't work. A piece of rubbish.

I bought the radio controlled spider and it has been a horrible experience. I was able to unscrew the spider from the packaging but the 2 screws holding the remote control were so tight and the screws were so soft that they stripped and I had to just cut the cardboard off around it. Then the screw in the spider; the screw is in there so tight I can't get it out. The hole is too small to get a bigger screwdriver in there to get more torque. I am so angry right now I could scream. Does your factory use a screw gun to put these in? Why on earth do you think they needed to be this tight? If you are going to use cheep soft screws then you can't make them this tight! I will watch the brand names of my future purchases and avoid this brand. I will tell everyone I can about this too. I will look for places to post this on the internet. After all this hassle it has taken any fun out of toy. Signed, an extremely unhappy customer.
My husband was finally able to find a screwdriver that fit and got the screw out. I put in the batteries and the disappointment continues. It only goes forward and backwards, no way to turn it, and it was so incredibly loud. There is no way you could try to use this to prank someone because they would clearly hear it coming. I shoved it all back n the box and am returning it.

Bought this retail, but it is one of the worst quality toys I've purchased in 35 years - from the difficulty in removing packaging and battery screws, to the thin (it breaks!) battery door on the remote control (which only goes forward, not reverse), to the tiny wheels on the spider which means it must be used on a hard (not carpet) surface. Awful product; regret this purchase - won't shop at that store again, it's so bad.

Wheels could be larger to work on more surfaces. The spider could be smaller to be more realistic. Nice toy

3 different screw types required to place batteries in. Managed to get two unscrewed but the third is so tight that the screw head has stripped out and remains stuck in there. My son was upset that he can never play with this toy.
Spend your money on something else.

Order came when expected. Spiders coating was scattered inside container & all the right legs were off the spider. When I opened the container, I noticed the legs were all broken off. Will return but would like to order another one, but afraid to reorder. I don't want to receive another broken one.

This thing does not move very quickly at all. It works just fine, just agonizingly slow. If you want to just make it move to scare people, it'll do that. If you want to chase people... Or in my case my dog... Not so great.

kids love the idea of it. but its noisy more than anything. when you turn it on it just sort of sits there vibrating like making a big humming noise. the idea of it is what the kids like. and not the actual action of it.

Doesn't operate near as good as I expected. It mostly spins it's wheels. On hard surface, if you have any cracks, it won't cross the cracks. It won't operate on carpet at all. Not much good to say about it. It is overpriced for the quality of the product.
