I loved the 3E of this pocketbook, but it hadn't been updated for the new ACLS so I stopped using it.

Now that the update is out, I've come back to using this book every day. A previous reviewer noted that the index is not as good as maybe it could have been, but I find it easier (in this case) to use the TOC as the starting point anyway.

The code algorithms are not updated or consistent with the new ACLS/2010 AHA recommendations. This is not a surprise given the copyright in the front of my book is 2009 (though the Amazon listing shows July 2008).

In any case, keeping a reference such as this up to date would require annual editions (like their classic Pharmacopoeia) and even then things would still fall a little behind given the dead tree format.

This is where many would prefer an easy to access electronic type of program, but sometimes flipping through pages as you sprint down a hallway is what you need to be doing.

Electronics and wifi and even 3G have all failed me at one time or another and having a small/portable, full-of-useful information resource is important.

Recommended (with the caveat the code algorithms need work). Given the price I would say go ahead and buy it, and buy the next edition as soon as it's available.
