I loved the 3E of this pocketbook, but it hadn't been updated for the new ACLS so I stopped using it.

Now that the update is out, I've come back to using this book every day. A previous reviewer noted that the index is not as good as maybe it could have been, but I find it easier (in this case) to use the TOC as the starting point anyway.

This is a great little quick reference that I can carry wherever; especially useful when the topic is too obscure or detailed for Dr. Google, and it is often a faster reference than the computer.

<<<EDITED TO ADD: Looks like there will be a new edition November 2012. That one will surely be up to date in terms of the code algorithms (and other details to be sure). My original commentary is below>>.

The code algorithms are not updated or consistent with the new ACLS/2010 AHA recommendations. This is not a surprise given the copyright in the front of my book is 2009 (though the Amazon listing shows July 2008).

In any case, keeping a reference such as this up to date would require annual editions (like their classic Pharmacopoeia) and even then things would still fall a little behind given the dead tree format.

This is where many would prefer an easy to access electronic type of program, but sometimes flipping through pages as you sprint down a hallway is what you need to be doing.

Electronics and wifi and even 3G have all failed me at one time or another and having a small/portable, full-of-useful information resource is important.

Recommended (with the caveat the code algorithms need work). Given the price I would say go ahead and buy it, and buy the next edition as soon as it's available.

Yeah, need good eyes for this little handy book.

This item has been very useful on the several occasions when I needed a quick reference for patient management issues, particularly for urgent ongoing diabetic care. Service of the purchace (pricing, delivery, integrity of product) were all at the usual excellent quality I've come to expect.

while this book appears to have all the best info for a quick EM reference, I have found the index to be less useful than I had hoped. Out of the past 10 things I've gone to look up, I think maybe only 1 or 2 I was able to find quickly in the index.

The previous edition had good information, but this one is even better. Pretty much covers all the facts and figures that I keep forgetting - and well-updated. After sampling multiple "pocketbooks" for EM, I think I'll stick with this one.

This book is the perfect size for lab coat pockets and good for reviewing important things while in the clinic. I used it constantly to review and for reference while on rotations. It has some good tables and flow charts too.
