5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect "Go-To" Pocketbook
Since obtaining this book shortly after starting my intern year, I have yet to find a more concise pocket reference for everyday (and some not-so-everyday) problems seen in the primary care and other settings. 3.0 out of 5 stars Not for the elderly....
I wish I had paid attention to one of the other reviews. The print is so small in this book, I can barely read it with a magnifying glass! The book is teeny and would fit in a breast pocket of a lab coat, but I would rather pay extra for a book with larger print which fits in a hip pocket. I am sure the content is excellent - Tarascon does produce some very useful books,...

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect "Go-To" Pocketbook, June 3, 2010
This review is from: Tarascon Primary Care Pocketbook, Third Edition (Paperback)
Since obtaining this book shortly after starting my intern year, I have yet to find a more concise pocket reference for everyday (and some not-so-everyday) problems seen in the primary care and other settings. The book includes chronic and acute issues covering every bodily system, while also devoting time to women's, pediatric, and preventive health. The text is impeccably written and thoroughly referenced throughout, making further reading on each topic an easy task. As one would expect with a pocketbook, the print is quite small but ultimately legible and well worth the sacrifice as the book won't crowd the pockets of your white coat (or your shirt's breast pocket, for that matter). The table of contents is well organized by bodily system and makes finding relevant information painless. I would recommend this pocketbook highly for medical students, interns and residents on primary care rotations, and practicing professionals dealing with primary care issues.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little book, June 10, 2009

This review is from: Tarascon Primary Care Pocketbook, Third Edition (Paperback)
As a family practice NP I'm always reaching for information that is always just outside of my circle of commonly used information. This little book offers succinct bits of information that I usually have to go look for, and it fits in my pocket!

5.0 out of 5 stars Tiny!, July 21, 2010

I thought this book was going to be the size of the pharm pocket book, but it is way smaller! Lots of information in a little book. The book is about the size of my hand, maybe a little smaller. I can read the print well without difficulty. Definite good all around primary care book.

This little shirt pocket book is packed with practically everything you can imagine. It is quick to reference, easy to read, and provides instant answers. I would highly recommend this book for med students on rotations, PA, NP, and medicine interns.

I wish I had paid attention to one of the other reviews. The print is so small in this book, I can barely read it with a magnifying glass! The book is teeny and would fit in a breast pocket of a lab coat, but I would rather pay extra for a book with larger print which fits in a hip pocket. I am sure the content is excellent - Tarascon does produce some very useful books, however PLEASE consider making these books a little bigger!

I gave the book 3 stars because I am sure it is great, BUT the size of the book and print makes it unusable for a lot of people over 40...

I just bought this book, but I am going to sell it back to Amazon...

much to my surprise the book is complete since its publication date. I have purchase several editions through-out the years and the information is full of details. At time I feel neurotic and catch my self attempting to read every bit of info. with small print -and my head sunken into the tiny book. It is great to quick reference or "tabletop reading". I definitely enjoy it; I wish for some change in the cover of the book and more updated material - I am not asking for much- Thx.
